I think APP would beat SMU by 10 or so.

If SMU gets by Memphis, Navy, Tulane, and then wins their conference championship game, they will deserve the G6 bowl game, I don’t think they will, it gets a lot tougher from here on out.

If App Sr wins out, they're a shoo in for the G6 bowl game. If they lose even one, I think they'll have to settle for one of the SBC bowls. That'd be a shame, as they're clearly one of this years best G5 teams, but that's the way it is for G5 teams. It's all or nothing.

Not if SMU runs the table.

There’s waaaay too much football and too much that can happen to be worried about all this.

I said it before: USC beating UGA was the worst thing that could have happened to us. Now the game has bowl implications for them. The MUST beat App to have any shot at a bowl. That’s an incredible motivator for a P6 team going up against a G5 that’s from the same neck of the woods.

Tulsa blew it. If Memphis has gotten its second loss tonight, they would have become App fans' second favorite team with home games against SMU and Cincinnati coming up. But alas, yet another potentially 1 loss AAC team to worry about.

Right now Cincy is also ranked ahead of them notwithstanding 1-loss. Memphis already has a win over an average SEC team and is 25/26 in the polls right now. If they beat both a ranked SMU & Cincy and then beat another ranked opponent in the AAC championship game I think they jump App no matter what.

The AAC has 7 teams in the top 36 of the poll (more than any other conference) and I think the committee will place significance on that in this process. I wouldn't even be surprised if a 2-loss AAC team gets the nod. For instance if Cincy loses @ Memphis in the regular season and then pays them back in the championship game.

Let me say however that I am extremely impressed with what App St is doing and part of me is pulling for them to make this happen, conference affiliation notwithstanding. Luckily, my Pirates don't have to play you guys for a couple more years and hopefully we'll have turned it around by then.

I think App's greatest hope is Belk Bowl or New Orleans. Discussion changes in 10 years.

If App wins the league, they are in New Orleans, unless they're in Dallas

Exactly. Belk Bowl signed up willingly to accept 6-6/7-5 matchups. We will be playing the first weekend of bowl season unless it’s the Mobile game.

Only other scenario would be IF ACC/SEC doesn’t have enough 6-6 teams to fill their slots. Then ESPN Events will move some folks around. I’d have to imagine the Belk folks wouldn’t mind having us there to play a 6-7 win Kentucky or Boston College or whomever

Final: UAB 7 - Tenn 30

A CUSA powerhouse was taken to the woodshed by Tennessee... Watched the entire game, and the game was ugly pretty much through the whole thing. Tennessee overwhelmed UAB in literally every position, especially in the trenches. UAB was allowed to score in garbage time to avoid a shutout. How can a 6-1 FBS team look so bad? Is CUSA schedule that soft so 6-1 means nothing? 03-confused

That's exactly it. They're in for a rude awakening when bowl season comes around.

Who called them a powerhouse? They haven’t beaten anyone. Let’s not pump them up into something they are not.

Fair enough. Whatever they are, 16-4 conference record with a CUSA championship ring during last 3 years made them one of the best of that league I assumed.

The bottom of CUSA west is just so bad (UTSA, UTEP, and Rice), and ODU.

Get this, they have beaten Alabama State (FCS and 4-4), Akron (0-9), South Alabama (1-7), Lost to WKU (5-4), Rice (0-9), UTSA (3-5), ODU (1-8), and UT (4-5). So the five FBS opponents they have beaten have a whopping 5 wins combined. They still have UNT, LaTech and USM and I don’t see them winning their division by any stretch of the imagination.

Fair enough, but I would pit LaTech or us up against your top two any day. Hopefully, we will settle it during bowl season. Every conference has bottom feeders who either lose or those that get pumped up by beating no one. 04-cheers
