do you recall sections covered in plywood, mandated by the NCAA?
Because of pearl-clutching UMASS fans that don’t know what it’s like to have students who care
If it had been the fans who were being abused the plywood would have been in the far left corner, not in front of the team. Y'all can pass it off as "students who care" all you like, but the fact of the matter is the student section needs to be relocated, or the team benches swapped. The players and coaches can take it, but what our support staff and cheerleaders had to endure last year was ridiculous.
There was a hand-written letter that was sent to Southern after the App game last year and it was passed around in laughter. Contained the same accusations here... was that you?
Nope. Wouldn't have wasted the paper and effort. Y'all's reaction to it tells me all I need to know.

Page 1: App fans laughing at the visiting team having to hike up a hill and across a road through a gauntlet of opposing fans
Page 3: GS students were mean to our cheerleaders.
1:. I haven't seen App fans "laughing" at the prospect of visiting teams making that trek. If you had actually paid attention you would notice I'm embarrassed by it.
2: GS students weren't mean, they were disgusting.
Anyone approving of that type of behavior doesn't have an ounce of decency in their body.
#2 is exclusive to us is what I'm gathering from your statement. That's a laughable thought.
There's no one here that approves of the behavior, but until you make it illegal for people to be shitheads in public, then it's going to happen. Those are not similar beliefs. It's why there are things like acceptable loss thresholds in business....there are some things you just can't get rid of and just mitigate to an acceptable threshold.
Can you curb the extremes? Yes. Students have reported people in the section that have gone beyond the threshold of what is acceptable so they have self policed themselves. But the standard you're attempting to hold our fans/students to is one that has to be upheld by everyone if you want to take that moral high ground....and unfortunately it just doesn't exist.
If it does, it's because there's no one in the stands. That's why no one ever has problems at a Georgia State game.

Take a moment and re-read your comment. Lots of App fans made 1 or 2 trips to Statesboro swearing they'd never go back.

As I've said every time this comes up, and it seems to come up quite often, swapping the benches or relocate the students would solve most of the issues. There's a reason App students sit behind the App bench.

That reason is knowing we are superior in every way to southern and are not relying on a bunch of inbred and eagle creek-born zika pinheads to "intimidate" the student athletes of our opponent.

Also, I’m pretty sure that students funded a portion of the seating expansion after voting yes to an increase in fees. So it would be unfair for them to move them. I’m willing to bet the walk down to the field at KBS won’t be a welcoming one. Maybe we should reserve judgement until after October 31st.

I'm struggling to understand your definition of "lots."
Also, until 2014, students were separated from visitors on the opposite side of the stands, and only part of the team sideline was exposed to the student section.
They saw what they wanted to see. Period.
Parents traditionally worried about sending students to Georgia Southern because it was always "the party school," however college is what you make of it. You can find parties at Georgia Tech as well but they don't get a bad rep for it.
It's self fulfilling. You come in expecting to see a bunch of bad fans so all you see is bad fans. You ignore the ones that don't bother you or try to make it a good experience for you. I've had bad experiences at multiple stadiums, but the only one I refuse to go back to is UGA (you think we're bad?).
I'll host anyone before games and insure they have a good experience. I'll also handle any of our fans that get out of control. If I run into visiting fans I thank them for making the trip and wish them well on the way home....even after losses. But if you walk in with the attitude that you're gonna have a bad time.....well I can't help you.

I foresee the rowdiest crowd App has ever seen on Halloween this year. The hatred is deeper than ever. This game deserves College Gameday, lets be honest

It'll definitely be rocking.
It'll probably be the hottest crowd since the last time ya'll played at night on Halloween. Hopefully it'll be a different result.
RE: Hope Y'alls Team is Bringing Their Hiking Boots to App This fall
I’ve visited GS when App filled two sections of that stadium. Plenty of shots of that game with empty bleachers on both sides as the game seemed to be over. Glad I stayed around.
Can you really blame people for not traveling to Pigs A$$ GA though.

Lol. Going with a citdog insult I see. You really don't have any ammunition left in this argument.
Find the proof of all these fans you speak of then.
RE: Hope Y'alls Team is Bringing Their Hiking Boots to App This fall
I've been going to GS games since well before I was college aged in the mid to late 90s. I've been to every home game against App since 1998 and can never really remember them bringing a big crowd. The biggest visiting crowd I can ever remember was FAMU in the playoffs in 2001, and even they didn't fill up two sections of the old visitor stands like Saint is saying.
That said, I also hope in the future we have seating arrangements where visitor fans sit next to boosters and students are behind our bench and not the other. I'd like to expand the seating. If you can have students throwing water bottles at players at ULM I can imagine how it'd go with a student section as big as ours.

I can agree with the FAMU 2001 crowd. I'd also say SC State in 2010 brought a good size crowd, although not comparable to FAMU. Other than those, I'm struggling to remember when anyone traveled to Paulson like we do to other stadiums in the last 20 years.
It's possible we move the students at some point, but it's not a reality we can entertain right now. We'd have to reconfigure seating in such a way to accommodate 10k students without putting the majority of our season ticket holders facing into the sun. The number one thing we need to do right now is not allow visitors into the lower seating areas to avoid issues and encourage the students to police themselves when they see behavior that crosses the line.
