Companies in the 'Burg Run by W&Mers: Help!
Fellow W&M Alums,

We at the W&M Sports Blog are thinking of partnering with local Williamsburg companies to potentially put on some cool giveaways, do some type of sponsorship, etc. this season.

With that in mind, we're prioritizing our outreach to #1) aforementioned companies based in and around the Williamsburg area and #2) those that are run by W&M alums.

Wondering if we could enlist those of you on here to suggest some companies that you think might fit those two categories well.

Any help is greatly appreciated! 04-bow

Roll Tribe Roll.

Virginia Beer Company is the first one that comes to mind

100% -- that seems to be a match made in heaven. That's the only really strong one we've been able to come up with off the top of our heads.

We're also open to partnering with companies that might make total sense -- akin to Paul's / Green Leafe / Delly (even if they're not run by W&M alums).

I'm pretty sure Smartmouth Brewing Co. (Norfolk and Va Beach) and Center of the Universe Brewing (Ashland) are owned/run by W&M alums. I also seem to remember COTU's founder played baseball at W&M.

These might be out of your ideal geographical sphere, but they're in areas where we could stand to improve our footprint.

(More breweries? I'm sensing a theme here...)

COTU run by Chris Ray and his brother, Phil. Chris pitched for the Tribe from 2001-2003, before being drafted (3rd Round) by the Orioles. he's a good guy.

While not run by W&M alums, shouldn't a major local supermarket like Harris Teeter get involved with Tribe Athletics? At the very least Tribe schedules
might be distributed at checkout locations .

Chris also had a cup of coffee with my beloved San Francisco Giants during the magical 2010 season and I was so proud of that. I bet he got a World Series ring even though he only appeared in a handful of games during a part of the regular season.

Chris was 5-0 that season, 2-0 with Texas and 3-0 with your Giants.

All that and he makes good beer, too! 04-cheers

Another great potential target.

Carolina Furniture of Williamsburg is owned by Joe & Judy Steele, both W&M alums. Joe sang the National Anthem at a Tribe hoops game last year.
And the Wallace family, a few of whom are W&M alum, own The Campus Shop & The Williamsburg General Store (also home of Bubba's Ice Cream).

Amazing, thanks for the insight!
