Question; am I a fool or a homer to believe...
That Houston will actually beat Oklahoma in Norman?

I look at the situation with each team and I try to be completely unbiased
And my gut feeling is that houston will win this game against a Oklahoma team that is about as equally retooling as Houston
So am I a fool ?, honest question before I go beat some coin

I might take Houston with the 24.5 points

Yes, you are a homer to think Houston will win in Norman.....they rarely lose at home.

Yeah, it’s that Norman thing that’s causing me some indigestion, but not completely

I think Houston has a chance, but with the Oklahomas of the world, its not the 1s that get you all the time, sometimes its the shear depth. Their second string team could probably be competitive in the AAC.

Put it this way: Houston is capable of beating OK, but it would be an upset. Houston has performed well in OOC games over the last several years, however you have a new coach and Ed Oliver is gone. Granted Dana has played against the Sooners annually and has a QB and offense capable of going up against OK. So no you’re not a homer or a fool to think you can beat OK.

I wouldn't say we have no shot (dont believe OU will be as good as they were last year and I expect us to be better) but I wouldn't bet on it.

Do I remember lowly Army almost winning in Norman last year, or was that a hallucination I had while on a bad mushroom?

As far as the bookies are concerned , you're a bigger long shot than Tulsa will be going up to Lansing and knocking off the Spartans in exactly two weeks. Keep it close, the Alabama QB might not be comfortable in his first game as a Sooner, you need to get to him early.

Yep, your only saving grace is that you're getting them early. OU is tough to stop once they get dialed in later in the season. If this game was in Houston, I think it would be a pretty close spread.

Fool no. Homer probably yes, but I'll be tuned in to the game. So, from an unbiased perspective I think it could be a very intriguing game for 4 quarters.

Holgerson is 0-7 vs OU but I can’t say I couldn’t see it happening. Good luck.

Army has a unique style under an established system that is difficult to defend.

Houston has a new head coach, with a new style, with a questionable defense. I'm also concerned that Holgerson has said he wants King to pass more and run less. I'm not as knowledgeable of the Houston team last year or this year, but I do know that King's feet and decision making on the run was the backbone of that offense. I'm reminded of Godfrey at UCF in 2010 versus 2011. GOL wanted Godfrey to be more of a pocket passer and less a runner, and it resulted in a 4 win season that had Bortles starting before the end of it.

Root for your team, cheer them hard, but in the end Houston has more question marks than an Oklahoma team at home.

Who knows, you could be both.

I don't see the Coogs beating the Sooners but hope we can beat the spread. The fact that it's the first game could play in our favor, but I'd actually be more confident to play them later in the year.

Maybe I'm the fool, but I think the Coogs will be a team that gets better as the season progresses. It's been a while since we've seen that.

Houston will probably keep it closer than the 24.5 point spread, but they will be hard pressed to win. OU's offense will probably a bit qorse, but their defense will likely improve a lot under Alex Grinch. I doubt the D will be elite, but to go from bottom of the bag to mediocre is good enough with this offense.
