glad Marquette got him- it's felt here recently like almost every big guy getting signed was going to p5 school...

RE: Big East Recruiting Update
Reading some IU boards last night, and it sounds like Garcia wasn't a fan of B1G-style of play - and was much more interested in the Big East style of play. And those are the "positive" comments.
IU basketball fans are something else.

Stever, Garcia plays basketball not football.

Yeah, quite a few IU fans who apparently aren't familiar with programs outside of IU and maybe the B10.
Although that's pretty common among most fanbases... you'll have those fans that only have an isolated view of the sport.

I'm a long-time IU follower (since 1986 when my brother decided to attend the school) and would surely liked to have had Garcia in a Hoosier uniform. But good for Garcia and MU — and the BE.

I was just joking, as P5 really only applies in Football.

Many folks would agree with your definition of "Power Five" being a football term. But I know a good number of people who apply the term very specifically to the "Power 5," i.e. the five comprehensive all-sports leagues with the collective most money, largest fan bases, best academics, largest endowments, etc. To these people, if you're not in "the club" you are not true "power." I don't agree with them but that's how they see it.

For sure. But it was Stever, so I had to razz him.

top 50 this year only 1 guy signed to a non p5 school..... Compare to last year when 8 of the top 50 didn't go to P5 schools....

You guys do a good job of keeping Stever on his toes. I sometimes "politely admonish" him. There is no doubt he does a great job for this board. I like him (as best as any of us can be "friends" on a message board, of course).

Four-star Jamari Sibley to Georgetown. Gives the Hoyas a pair of top-100 players in a three-person class, which is solid. Interested to see what happens at center, there's talk that this is Yurtseven's final year in college and I don't see a big-minutes center on the roster to back up Wahab next season.

Yea, this whole assault/harassment/etc situation has derailed what was looking like a very solid foundation at Georgetown. Not sure what things look like going forward.

RE: Big East Recruiting Update
Figure I'll throw this in here....
One brother was a four-star center, the other a high three-star center.
One one hand it's not ideal that they just took three centers in the 2019 class and, if they were to take these twins, they would now have what's essentially a five-man freshman class of all centers. On the other they just had four scholarship players leave and have three players set to graduate (including Yurtseven, who's supposedly going pro after this year) while only currently having two commitments in 2020, and so you take the local four-star guys and figure it out later. Interested to see what happens here.

Good points about the "positional imbalance" with all the centers (potentially) on next year's roster. I see that Yurtseven is a senior, so he would be gone regardless.
