I think people get hung up on if a QB has 1st round NFL potential to determine how great of a college QB they are. Fine is never going to play in the NFL, but he is a great college system QB. We see this all the time at the college level.

All the QB’s are worse, Who are these other QB’s and what makes you think are better than Jmar.

I know one thing Abraham is not even in the same stratosphere as Jmar. I have seen sided by side comparisons, not even close between those two.

Jmar probably has the strongest arm in CUSA

He also looks the most physically imposing in his uniform, but he still sucks. Fine looks like a middle schooler in his uniform, but he is the best QB in this conference and a great college QB overall.

I am curious to see how much Chris Robison improves after his very inconsistent freshman season.

RE: PFF: 2019 Starting QB Rankings
IMO, the list in the OP reflects little bearing of anyone who has watched C-USA. Rather than give my view on right now I'm going to fast forward and predict where these QB's will finish in passing efficiency...

1. James Morgan
2. Mason Fine
3. Jack Abraham
4. Tyler Johnston III
5. Chris Robison
6. Isaiah Green
7. Asher O'hara*
8. J'Mar Smith
9. Steven Duncan*
10. Chris Reynolds*

Asterisk indicates my projected starter. No point going past the top 10.

RE: PFF: 2019 Starting QB Rankings
It isn't just UNT fans and PFF that have Mason Fine highly ranked.

FBS QB Ranks
PFF #5 (This is actually a ranking based on their QB rating system)
Athlon #11
Sporting News #11
CFB Dynasty #13
USA Today #13
Champion Insiders #9
Yahoo #30

Overall College Football Player Ranks
Sports Illustrated #60

Seems most rankings have him around 11-13. PFF's high ranking can be explained by their metrics. Yahoo had Morgan ahead of him if I remember correctly.

I disagree. Fine will play in the NFL. Will he ever be a starter? Probably a 15% chance of that happening. But Fine has all of the intangibles to be an NFL QB.

That's fantasy land. In the NFL the top two intangibles are height and weight. The third is arm strength.

Even if he is good enough (and let's say he is for arguments sake) almost no teams will give him a legitimate chance. It's just the reality. He will probably end up in the Canadian League, but his odds are closer to zero that he ever becomes a permanent starter in the NFL than any other number.

I actually agree but if you watch the Hawaii bowl game J'Mar it was a different QB. That said I'm not sold on him having a breakout SR season but we do have a couple of young QB's and a commit that are pretty looking good in practice

Very true, it depends on what criteria you rank them by. Josh Allen was a marginal QB at Wyoming but had a tremendous upside therefore a first round pick. Look at all the terrific QB's in CUSA the past 5 years and how many of them are currently on NFL rosters besides Driscoll, McGough and White? Doughty, Higgins, Kato, Stockstill, etc. No. Sorry if I left anyone out.

Intangibles are things that can't be sized up, measured, timed or weighed.

I'll just say Drew Brees (2nd round pick) and Russell Wilson (3rd round pick) and leave it at that.

Rice will see your 2qbs and raise you two.

When all the dust settles Wiley Green will be in that top ten efficiency ratings though.

I'll just say Drew Brees (2nd round pick) and Russell Wilson (3rd round pick) and leave it at that.

You obviously don't know how the NFL works.

Drew Brees and Russell Wilson represent .0019 of all QB's who have ever played QB in the NFL. So just leaving it at that pretty much defeats your whole argument.

So, if you think that Mason Fine is one of the most elite football QB's to ever play the game, because that's what Brees and Wilson represent - then hold on cause I might have a heart attack laughing my ass off. And by the way both of those guys played P5 so let's not pretend the defenses faced in C-USA on a weekly basis are similar to the defenses those two faced.

Again, I even said just for fun let's say he is good enough he is still very, very unlikely to be given a legit chance. Because that's just how the NFL works.

J’Mar has big arm strength but accuracy and touch when needed are lacking. Doesn’t matter how hard you throw it if you can’t consistently his open targets.

Thats true but he is 3yr starter and RS Senior so experience is worth something especially at QB.

All the other QBs are no names with not much experience so Jmar as 3rd best in CUSA doesnt surprise me

He doesn’t. He’s way undersized and made of glass. This isnt the 1990s or 2000s.

RE: PFF: 2019 Starting QB Rankings
If Fine was coveted by the NFL he would not be playing CUSA football this fall. As it is he probably didn’t get much interest from P5 programs when the transfer was being floated around. Don’t get me wrong. Sometimes a guy just refuses to be told he’s not this or that and beats the system but it’s not going to be easy for a six footer regardless of how well he chuncks the rock......
