Could Vermont join the CAA?
Vermont brings in a good basketball program, along with a $95M new basketball arena (Link). Could Vermont to the CAA work?

They would be a good basketball add but the geography sucks. Although as a travel partner with northeastern it would be doable. If we could get north-south divisions they would be a gold northern add

Yeah if Vermont ever re-added football they would fit in nicely with the football only schools, but Northeastern would be a nice travel partner for other sports.

Until JMU leaves, CAA wont add any more. But pulling from the America East is certainly plausible. Vermont is as good as any. Stony Brook was in high regards the last go around, but was seemingly blocked by Hofstra.

Is there any rumor of this? Or just "hey who would make a good add"?

There should not be any plausible rumors unless JMU is making waves on moving on up for football. I do not see anything else shaking up the conference or forcing movement.

Not sure how much they would add. They're good at basketball right now, but they haven't been historically consistent.

CAA generally seems to like being in bigger media markets (Though Elon doesn't fit this bill), I know WM likes having a presence in Philly, Boston, NY, etc to help get their name out there, and Vermont doesn't fit that bill.
