Does anyone know I'd Drew made his visit?? Any reaction if he did ??

I believe he did. No word on a timeline for his decision.

Yeah, im a big fan of both of the offered bigs (Joba & McEldon) . I think Joba would be my preference as well. Very skilled, nice measurements, and seems to have a good motor. I think both would be serviceable bigs in the CAA.

I think this is a list of newly interested programs; no team that has offered him already is listed.

RE: 2023 MBB Recruiting
I wonder if our best strategy is to do a "counter-Calipari".

Instead of one-and-dones, focus on experienced players who want the W&M business school experience. Supplement them with freshmen recruits who will hopefully stick.

Would experienced players require less x's and o's coaching and development? Would the ability to quickly pull together disparate units and create a team culture become more important? Dane has already pulled that off once and it may be his forte.

One could argue we would miss out on some high talent recruits and transfers (who would be more concerned with playing overseas than in furthering their education) but perhaps fielding a team of 22-24 year olds with less talent but more maturity is a winning option.

Does it matter how you win? I don’t like that strategy.

What I actually wonder is how much recruiting focus has to be on
1. Targeting retainable players (how do you assess an 18 year olds commitment)
2. Targeting players you don’t expect to get now but can lay groundwork for their potential transfer in the future

Very different recruiting landscape

2023 MBB Recruiting
I believe they recruit and ultimately offer kids they evaluate as a "fit". The skillset needs to fit what they are looking for, but they need to be a match personality and work ethic wise with who they have on the roster. From a coaching perspective, i think they can catch on pretty quickly if a kid is excited about William & Mary and its not just another school to add to the list. Focus on them. I dont think coaches can really worry about retainability. The power is now with the student athlete. Best you can do is treat everyone honestly & fairly and hope for the best. Run a stand up program and keeping guys that want to stay and attracting transfers isnt an issue. Like was mentioned, I don't see how good relationships formed now wouldn't pay off later in the transfer market. If it comes to that, of course.

Good for CoC

Probably doesn't hurt that C of C has an NIL collective signing deals with basketball players. W&M needs to get going on this front if it wants to compete in the CAA. Multiple other schools have collectives signing deals with basketball players.
