New Women's Gymnastics Coach
https://tribeathletics.com/news/2019/8/8...coach.aspx
Congratulations to Kelsey Hinton on being promoted to Head Coach of the Women's Gymnastics program. Good luck to her!
I think the article was poorly written, however, in that it does not even mention who the previous coach was and what happened to her. Mary Lewis was the previous coach and she was there for 25 years. I don't know why she is no longer there, although I see in her bio that she graduated from college in 1985. Therefore, she would be around 55-56 years old and perhaps she just retired. With good and proper reporting, though, I would not need to guess at what caused the change.

It’s not really reporting though at all. They gave the old coach her deserved respect and recognition on the way out, I assume. You can’t expect internal releases to be objective, they’re not. They’re going to focus on the “bright future”. It would be like leaving a job and at the next week’s meeting they’re talking about you rather than your replacement. Not good practice.

I understand that it is not really "reporting". I disagree, though, in that I still think the article should have at least mentioned the former coach --- especially so since she had been there for 25 years and had apparently gone out on good terms. A comparable situation to what you say would have been if they had announced Mike London as the new football coach without anywhere mentioning in the article that it was Jimmye Laycock who he was replacing.
Speaking of going out on good terms, the lack of any mention of Mary Lewis makes me wonder if she truly "retired" of her own volition or whether she was forced out. Lots of aging coaches being let go....there is definitely a trend since Huge took over.
