Dayton, OH Mayor Whaley Encourages Protests of Trump Visit
Quote:Tuesday speaking to reporters, Dayton, OH Mayor Nan Whaley encouraged protestors to “stand up and say they’re not happy if they’re not happy,” when President Donald Trump visits after the city’s mass shooting.

When asked about potential Trump protestors, Whaley said, “As you cover me all the time, you know I have lots of protesters all the time. Even my friends protest me from time to time. So I’m glad that they’re using their right to give free speech comment. Look, I know that he has made his bed, he’s got to lie in it. He hasn’t, you know —his rhetoric has been painful for many in our community. And I think that people should stand up and say they’re not happy if they’re not happy.”

When asked about the president’s remarks on the shootings, Whaley said, “I’m disappointed with his remarks. I mean, I think they fell really short. He mentioned, like, gun issues one time. I think watching the president over the past few years over the issues of guns. I don’t know if he knows what he believes, frankly.”

She is an embarrassment, that obviously can't put her emotions and personal biases aside in order to act/govern professionally.

Her comments are a lot like in baltimore when the mayor gave the protesters their "space to riot". Tomorrow will probably be a shite-show now, and it's on her.

Nothing to see here, just another dem politician with one side of their pie hole saying, "this is a time for unity" and on the other side saying, "F Trump/Conservatives and anyone who supports them." When they speak of unity, they mean ensuring everyone believes and states only what they approve.

Great. Scream and yell all ya want, "DO SOMETHING!!!". K. What?

Has anyone asked Nan what she believes on "guns"? Does she know which end the gun autonomously shoots the bullet from?

Based on that comment alone I'd bet Nan has trouble tying her own shoes. 07-coffee3

I am 100% Republican, but, I am all for protests and freedom of speech. I can see where this may be living a little on the edge when a public servant (mayor) is stirring the pot. She represents the community as a whole and not just one side. Let me say I would feel the same if it was a Republican doing this.

I would also like to point out, and I could see this being an issue here, that a milkshake or any other object that deliberately hits somebody should be taken as a threat. If antifa is there and forcing their beliefs other than verbal display, they should expect an a** beating and not cry foul because of it. Same goes for any protesters or groups that show up. I'm so sick of protesters attacking others and then playing the victim.

I was a bit all over the place here, sorry!

Peace!

Can we all get along?

You guys have had Silvester Reyes, Robert Francis O'Rourke and now this chick. Where the hell does El Paso find these people? The dumpster behind the closed Toys R' Us in LC?

I think Trump should take the time and see and hear the people. He is the President of the whole country, but he only caters to his base. Reagan and other Republicans and Democrat Presidents reach out and hear the voices of the other side and find ways to work both sides for a compromised. When he does not? This country will be forever split.

That’s rich coming off 8 years of a president giving one half the country the middle finger

This country is split because liberals, being the hypocrites that they truly are, still haven't accepted the election results of November 2016 and fight this President from every single angle humanly possible.
The previous president began dividing the country and his party has ramped it up another notch.
The mainstream media has also been a key contributor to the division of the country.

God help us when Trump kicks their collective azzes in 2020.

I am a free speech guy all the way as well-- that being said, the Risk Management/Legal side of my brain has to wonder if she just opened up the City of Dayton to a massive lawsuit should someone get physically harmed in a protest.
