Would have been nice to have a MAC featured match up on this opening weekend. Would have been a real attention grabber.

Some MAC team would have to sign a H&H with Hawaii and that trip ain't cheap so it's probably the last thing a MAC AD is looking for.

Apparently an FCS game is good enough for ESPN though.

The Florida/Miami game is only happening because ESPN requested a waiver to get them to play early to celebrate CFB150.

There’s a separate schedule exemption that allows FCS teams — one per conference per year — to start early if they’ve got a national television broadcast to show the game.

So in order to play a week early, a MAC team would either need to:

-Play a game at Hawaii
-Get ESPN to fight for a special once-in-150-years exemption for you
-Drop down to FCS and get ESPN or CBSSN to agree to televise a game to fill out their schedule

I was thinking exemption.

Mildly surprised they aren't showcasing Rutgers or Princeton today.

Was busy today otherwise I probably would've caught one of the FCS games. Not interested in the UF/UM game. Is Hawaii supposed to be good this year? Maybe that'll be a good game?

Since we are playing Rutgers can say it's a home game for them so carried on the BigTen network. Don't know if I'll find a place to watch as unable to make the trip for a Friday night game.

Hawaii is looking real good so far.

2 fun games to start the year. a bit sloppy, but exciting. G5 is undefeated vs P5 so far.

U can find ways to make it work

You can’t televise games that aren’t scheduled. And it’s the networks that have to make it work, not the MAC. They could have moved any number the scheduled MAC opening games to those slots had they wanted. They just didn’t.

Well your looking for exposure, trying to sell a product
