Exclamation Troy lands 4-star DL Auburn transfer
A D-Lineman for Auburn, Richard Jibunor, who in 2018 as a freshman recorded 7 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble is transferring to Troy. He played in 13 games last season for Auburn.

He'll have three years left to play. Also held offers from Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, Tennessee, USC, Kentucky, and a bunch more.

Add this along with our 4-star RB transfer from Texas A&M, and things are looking strong. It's nice to see Troy get some portal luck after all the turnover we had when Neal Brown left.

Both he and the Texas A&M running back will be eligible in 2020.

Doesn't sound like playing time is an issue. Keep him out of trouble and he could be a top 20 lineman nationally.

Scouting report says he was 2nd in line, behind Auburn's starter at BUCK (Bandit at Troy, a DE / LB hybrid edge rusher). A year without live football always worries me though, but he's young so maybe it will feel like a traditional redshirt year.

We've had a few transfers from P5 schools that have worked out. Junior Gnonkonde was great for Troy (UNC transfer circa 2016). I'd say most have not worked out though. Jamarius Henderson, Josh Jarboe, and Traveon Samuel to name a few. We'll have to wait quite a while to find out.

I'd say quite a few have worked out since 2008.

DL Sidell Corley via LSU
DL Kevin Dixon via Nebraska
DL Lonnie Gosha via Arkansas
QB Levi Brown via Richmond
WR Jaquon Robinson via Air Force
S Brynden Trawick via Michigan State
DL Jeremy Elder via Alabama
OL Ethan Hutson via Ole Miss
TE Jim Teknipp via UCF

Most of these guys were recognized as all-conference players at some point.

Fair points with most of those. I did say P5 though, so three of those aren't who I'm referring to. I don't remember the bottom three playing a significant role. Not sure about Sidell either. I vaguely remember his time being cut short for some reason. All of them were good kids though.

Corley had a medical issue and had to quit football. Hutson was actually a starter for 1 season (grad transfer).

Most transfers at any school don’t work out.

This is true, but in some instances it works out great for everyone concerned.
