They don’t make assistant coaches like him any more. I think him to be the last of coaches who are content to just be a coordinator. Mickey Andrews was like that also. I hope his D brings the lunch pail one more season.

I have no idea why he bothered to stay at VT after they passed him over for Fuente from Memphis. That had to hurt after giving so many productive and load bearing years to the Hokies.

God’s Country has/had Foster hooked for life. Can’t really blame him.

I'd be curious to know how many FBS schools had offered him their head coaching job. It could be that VT isn't the only school that didn't see him as head coaching material.

As much as I would have liked to have seen Bud get a head coaching job, be successful and maybe succeeded Frank when he retired, it wasn't meant to be. I don't know what Bud's problem was getting a head coaching job. Maybe he wasn't a good interview and he didn't appear to interview for many opportunities but you're right. No one else liked him enough as a head coaching prospect to hire him.

How do you know that he was not offered the job, and turned it down?

So, does "Beamer 25" (Roanoke) add a section for Foster...? That kinda would be fitting and nice.
