Bold predictions for this football season
Note I said bold. Predicting Clemson to win is about as bold as a fine tip lead pencil.

Surprise team in the Atlantic: Boston College
Dud team in the Atlantic: NC State

Surprise team in the Coastal: Georgia Tech
Dud team in the Coastal: Virginia Tech or Virginia ... I could see Cavman being picked 1st in the Coastal turning into dead last in the Coastal. Either way I predict disappointment for all the teams in the state of Virginia.

Coach of the Year: Dino Babers

Mack Brown won't coach nearly as well as he briefly recruited.

Louisville is such a mess they'll need more than one season to recover.

I could see Duke winning the Coastal division and Miami having a disaster season.

RE: Bold predictions for this football season
I don't know how bold it is to pick them but I wouldn't be shocked if Syracuse wins the Atlantic division this year. Florida State also would not shock me.

In the Coastal, I know you'll think I'm a homer but I really think Virginia Tech has a very good chance to win it. Miami or UVA or even Pitt could win it too... but not UNC, Duke or GT (sorry, Swagger).

Syracuse doesn’t live up to the hype.

Is that even bold?

No just jealousy 03-lmfao

Tommy DeVito just scored again!

My prediction: Cuse @ FSU becomes a huge game on Oct 26th.

Syracuse beats Clemson at the dome.
Clemson goes on to win the National Championship.
UNC finishes last in the Coastal.
FSU finishes with 7 wins or less.

A 10 point win over that dumpster fire isn’t really something to brag about, and one of the reasons I think the Orangemen are overrated. Teams will have them figured out this season.

Fair enough...but teams have seen Dino coach for 3 seasons. He does a great job at developing 3 star players. He has reengerized the program and the whole CNY area is back in love with the team again. New Season Ticket sales are sitting at +8000 in late July.

I think the Historic teams in this conference will begin to Re-emerge from their collective slumbers.... FSU, VT, MIA and a few others..... should make for a super fun year!!!!04-cheers

I also think it will take UofL more than a season to come back.03-yawn But Coach Satt is building us back up the right way! and he's truly a like-able guy, unlike that last dude.03-nutkick

RE: Bold predictions for this football season
I think the ACC teams to watch (besides Clemson) are FSU, Miami, Virginia Tech, and Virginia

If FSU gets the offense going forward and not backward, they will be dangerous in a hurry

Virginia and VT have the rosters to make waves this season as well. It would help the conference to see Virginia actually break into the top 25 and play competively. I think this could be Bronco Mendenhall's year

I also think Miami might surprise some people, and that they have a real chance to get the jump on Florida early. Don't sleep on the Canes this year

I tend to agree with this somewhat. Syracuse isn't going to surprise anyone...it's alot easier playing off the radar than with a target on your back.

SU 2018 could be Duke of 2013. They had a magical year and it’s more likely than not that they fall back to earth.

RE: Bold predictions for this football season
Not meant as a dig at my/our Hokie friends on the board...and, in truth I'm betting they may feel the same way...with their schedule this fall, if the Hokies don't go at least 8-4 then I have serious doubts about Fuente and his tenure in Blacksburg. VPI&SU should go 7-0 at home. They have some challenging road games, but if they can't win at least one of them (or if they lose any of those games at home for that matter) then I wonder how hot Fuente's seat will become next offseason.

In truth, I disagree with the bold prediction that both Virginia schools will underachieve this season. It won't surprise me if the Black Friday game at Scott Sisson Stadium for the Commonwealth Cup will determine the Coastal representative in Charlotte.

Having said that, I hope Pitt wins their opener over the French.

I mean, how bold can you be when you know exactly what's going to happen? But alas, I will take a shot...

VT makes a NY6 bowl.

Why do I say this? Because I know WE are going to a NY6 bowl and, well... we play VT in every bowl game.

TRUE.

For the record, VT needs to win 10 games this season.

After being released by the Giants, the NCAA grants Eric Dungey another year of eligibility, only to see Dungey get injured in game 1 vs. Liberty.
