OT: Car Detailing
Let’s break from political talk and bashing.

Let’s talk detailing of vehicles. I just got done washing my new truck and the wife’s car. Before winter I want to put a coat of wax on to help with the ice and salt. What type of wax does everyone here use?

It's summer, you need a bikini wax.

I’m not sure my wife would approve of me getting one

There's a bunch of products out there now claiming to be the best. Don't buy it. The best today is the same as it's always been....carnuba wax.

I worked for a dealership detailing cars in high school. Our manager was one of the best in the business. Car enthusiasts would pay him to detail their cars for car shows. He always used carnuba wax.

Mother's California Gold. Only wax you'll ever need. Goes on and comes off pretty easy and is tough as ****. What we used at the dealership was the industrial version of it.

honestly, it's the underside you should be concerned with relative to corrosion (ice/salt)....just wash it off regularly when those situations occur, and you should be dandy...

Kap's spot on with protecting the paint job...

if you have chips in the paint....fix before waxing...

If you have the time, use a clay bar on it after a wash. After that go over the car with any type of cleaner wax. Then throw on a coat of #26 mcguires wax.

Just YouTube how to use the clay bar. It's fairly easy and straight forward. You won't believe how slick the car becomes afterward.
