When was the last time you remember a good Sun Belt team absolutely dismantling a P5? When we beat bad P5's it's usually late in the 4th, by 3 to 7 points. There's a lot to be said about walking into an SEC stadium and taking their lunch money.

North Texas doesn't have nearly the issues UAB does, but their question mark is losing their offensive coordinator to Southern Cal and significant losses on defense.

As far as the Arkansas win goes, well how many games do our top teams get against 2-10 P5 teams? We don't get nearly as many as CUSA does. Last year MTSU played Vanderbilt and FIU played Indiana while GS played Clemson, App played Penn State, and Ark State and UL played Alabama.

The win over Arkansas doesn't make them a good G5 team, and IMO if Troy played UNT last year the game would've been even more lopsided than 2017. Wins over P5s aside, going 10-3 in the Sun Belt East is better than comparable records in a weaker CUSA conference.

Still doesn't make Appy our biggest win, but keep tooting your horn if it makes you feel better.

Your only win against a Top 25 team in the AP Poll isn't the biggest win? On National TV?

Wow..okay05-stirthepot

Let us remind you that in the season you beat UF, a 2-5 App State team beat 4-2 Georgia Southern 38-14.

Rock meet hard place.

What does one have to do with the other?

And the question was not the win against the highest ranked team. The win against you last year, although very fun, will not move the meter of anyone outside of our two fan bases. It's just not that big of a deal to anyone in the rest of CFB that you were ranked 25th for a couple days.

Actually you celebrating a win as your best win vs. a 4-8 FBS program makes me feel better, embarrassed for you, but makes me chuckle. Especially when I see your fanbase discredit other G5 programs for beating bad P5s.

We've discussed this ad nausea in multiple threads and it really doesn't matter what you think about it. You and eric are about the only two that actively feel the way that you do and you continue to bring it up to try to troll us about it. So have fun with that....

Nah the rest continue to laugh at you through the screen celebrating a win versus a 4-8 team.

If anyone's laughing its not necessarily because they beat a 4-8 Florida, but because we agree that the ranked App win is a bigger deal and they are so adamant that it isn't.

I don’t think someone who played in the championship game last year qualifies as a sleeper.

Don't even pretend like if there were a p***ing contest on this board comparing who has the most and best signature wins that GS wouldn't get made fun of for bringing up a win over a conference mate and rival as some big notch in the belt.

Would anyone bring up Ark State's win over Troy in 2016?

I still look at App’s back to back wins vs ULL and Ark St in 2015 as two of the best FBS wins we’ve had. They were kings of the conference at the time and when I knew Satt had turned a corner.

https://www.gsufans.com/tsc/showthread.p...a-win-over

A good chunk of our fans consider either 2007 App or 2018 App the best team we've ever beaten (granted many weren't around for the Erk years).

That's different than saying they were the top win. When we go to play at SEC teams fans their fans are more likely to bring up our win over Florida than our win over App last year even though that App team would probably beat that Florida team by 4 scores. That's just the way it is.

Caring what Walmart SEC fans think is more important to some than beating the better team. I get it, just disappointing to hear from what I consider a knowledgeable CFB fanbase when it comes to quality football.

At the end of the day, we've beaten your two best teams ever (2007, 2018) and App has beaten our best team ever (1999).

That's what makes it a rivalry.

Beating a ranked team that finished with 11 wins IS a big deal, even if it is a conference opponent. I just don't think that it's our biggest win ever.

I think GS has better wins or certainly more meaningful wins during the 1-AA years.

My point was why is a win vs a 4-8 P5 team better than a win vs a top 25 conference member? If the answer is because Walmart SEC fans remember it, we clearly value different aspects of winning football games.

As we have said multiple times, it's because it did more for the brand and the national recognition of our program. The win against Appy was two teams that are 20 year rivals, that are in the same conference, that play every year, and it was seen by a couple hundred thousand people on TV. It was forgotten the next day by anyone that is not a Sun Belt fan.

The win against UF was an FCS team beating an SEC team that has had multiple national championships and multiple Heisman Trophy winners and is still talked about and brought up 5 years later.

No one has said they were the best team we have ever beaten. But it did much more for our program than ever beating Appy will do.

Haven't heard any one bring up the UF game other than Georgia Southern and UGA fans (probably one in the same).
