At least we aren't on a 50-year streak without MACC.

we're not either!

Which is interesting to me, because I think most people would consider Ohio to be among the top 2 MAC East teams of the past quarter century, in terms of consistency. Ohio is rarely an easy out.

Let's just say I'm glad that streak wasn't broken in the 2016 MACC. I nearly soiled myself as Ohio was driving late in the fourth quarter. Had Ohio pulled it out, it would've easily been the biggest heartbreaker in WMU history, given the season long buildup and Cotton Bowl talk.

Hoping for a bowl game for Ball St., but looking at the schedule I'm only coming up with 3-4 wins. The real question is does the university buy Neu out or do we ride out the rest of the contract...

Feels like he's been there forever, but only 3 years.

Is he on a 5 year contract?

I'll be cheering for you guys in most of your games. :)

Partly because that final one-third of last season, when we were blown out week after week, still leaves a lingering bad taste (NIU aside, although I'm not sure the Huskies brought their A game to Kzoo having already clinched the division).

There's just too many questions on coaching and defense. Our offense should be good enough to average 40 points a game or so, but will that talent be utilized correctly and the defense not give up an average of 41 points a game?

MAC is always tough to handicap. I'll pick MIAMI again , feel they are loaded and finally found their footing. Beating my HUSKIES was big step forward. Ohio has the best QB and is just solid under Solich and is deserving to be the favorite.

Aside from 2 or 3 bottom-barrels, I don't think we'll be scoring points on opponents that easily.

Our WRs are so green and inexperienced, especially after losing Watson and Reed. Our incoming freshmen are highly touted, but they are still freshmen. If they don't get up to speed quickly, defenses will just focus on bottling up Bellamy.

Since Frank arrived, I'd agree with you that we're rarely an easy out. but you have to remember before he came to Athens, we were among the lowest of the lows in college football for years and years and years. so that explains a lot of the years between 1968 and 2005. since Frank came, though, we've had opportunities and have just flat out blown them (case in point the year we had a 20-0 halftime lead over Northern and lost 23-20). talk about heartbreaking! and yes the year we came back and almost pulled off the win against Western...another heartbreak! and then there are the years we have stumbled in late season and ended up on the outside looking in at the MAC championship game (like last year). All of this to say...let's put all of this behind us (OHIO fans) and win it this year! PLEASE! :-)

If he's saying Ohio has been a factor in the conference race for a quarter century he's saying since 1994. That year was the final year of the Ohio FB dark ages from the mid 70's.

I agree its kind of stretch statement but 25 years ago is right around when the relative rise of Ohio FB started when the administration became serious about FB with plans to put in more facilities and increased marketing. Before that time Ohio FB was managed like an average FCS team as it was managed in that day and age.

So will it be the BG game or the Akron game that will be the head-scratching loss that knocks Ohio out of the CCG?

Ohio will eventually win one. NIU fans know MAC Championship heartbreak well. We had to watch Akron defeat us on a hail mary in the 2005 title game. Then in 2010 watch Miami ultimately beat us in a close game in which they miraculously caught a 4th down, tipped pass as their quarterback was running for his life.
