SBC Media Day coverage
95.3 The Ticket will have 8 hours of Media Day coverage starting at 10 AM coming up on Monday, July 22. I don't have the schedule yet, but I would expect interviews with most, if not all, of the league's coaches, plus Commish Gill, bowl reps, Steve Shaw, and of course the full A-State contingent. You can tune in at 953theticket.com or by downloading the Tune In app and searching for KNEA.

Would love to hear who will be there media wise covering your team so I can follow along with that, too. Links to any radio stations that are there would be awesome, plus twitter handles from your beat writers or other media folk. Thanks!

RE: SBC Media Day coverage
Commish Gill set to take the podium any minute now and you can follow along on ESPN 3 here.

The Ticket kicks off 8 hours of coverage at 10 and it will span across 3 shows, hence a couple of folks you'll here from twice. Here's the confirmed slate:

10:15a Kirk Merritt (A-State)
10:30 BJ Edmonds (A-State)
10:45 Troy's Chip Lindsey
11:00 Commish Keith Gill
11:15 A-State's Blake Anderson
11:30 App State's Eliah Drinkwitz

12:15p Commish Keith Gill
12:30 App State's Eliah Drinkwitz
1:00 ULM's Matt Viator
1:15 Georgia Southern's Chad Lunsford
1:30 South Al's Steve Campbell
2:00 Texas State's Jake Spavital
2:15 Georgia State's Shawn Elliott
2:30 A-State's BJ Edmonds
2:45 A-State's Kirk Merritt

3:15 Louisiana's Billy Napier
4:30 A-State's Blake Anderson
I would also expect to hear interviews from CCU's Jamey Chadwell, Troy's Chip Lindsey, Director of Officials Steve Shaw, Andrea Williams of the CFP, and Alan Gooch of the Cure Bowl sometime in the 3-6p window, but I don't have set times for those yet.

Additionally, if you miss anything today, we will be posting interviews at 953theticket.com.

RE: SBC Media Day coverage
Announcers pick ULM as their sleeper team this season.

Announcers comment that Georgia Southern had the best turn around of any FBS team last season.

Announcers comment on the Sun Belt being a conference of new coaches, but still pick App to win.

I really like new commissioner Keith Gill. I feel like he has the best interest of the student athletes at heart and he’s excited about where this conference is headed.

Remarked on our great Out-Of-Conference performance the past few seasons.

Obligatory, “App State beat Michigan in 2007” plug as an example of a Sun Belt win against a ranked team despite App not being a Sun Belt team at the time.

Overall, great opening.

We are I think 6 years out from the next negotiation. Really not much reason to talk TV deal.

Hard to beat steak and eggs. Apparently it's what they do every year.

Not sure on the answer to this, but I can tell you that when Commissioner Gill opened it up to questions after his opening address, there were no questions...

RE: SBC Media Day coverage
It's interesting to see the evolution of media. The traditional journalist who spends 4 years being indoctrinated with all the PC agenda and talking points is becoming less relevant. There is plenty of coverage of everything. It's like we don't even need these "media days" anymore. Is anything really going to be "news"? I'm grateful to be able to consume media with multiple points of view and insights.
