To the point of everyone else, the thread was about USF investing in an IPF and has been turned into trolling USF about not having an OCS and attendance. I'm quite familiar either the line of argument.

And I was responding to what YOU said, nothing else. I didn’t start anything on here, but when you take pot shots at our stadium, that’s when you’re asking for an argument. I guess there’s not a whole lot to talk about on the Georgia State board anyways...
...or the UCF board.

There’s plenty of stuff to talk about on the UCF board, how we’re getting 4 star quality SEC transfers, a new coach, our heisman candidate QB, new AD, being in the mix for 4 star recruits, etc. And UCF is in the AAC, so of course we post in here. Last time I checked, GSU isn’t in the AAC.
So you're here but there's a lot going on in UCF board. I am here but nothing going on GSU board. Got it.

We are in the AAC, that’s the difference. You don’t see us going on the sun belt board and getting involved in arguments between Georgia State and Georgia Southern. Go back to your conference’s board.

Except for egos in admitting what a great thing it was for UCF to build a bare bones OSC, a $70 million dollar (in todays numbers) 45,000 seat stadium in 5 years is better than a $150 million 40,000 seat stadium 25 years from now. It would just require that you eat a little crow.

I don't have to eat crow because I have always thought you guys did the smart thing by building your bare-bones stadium. It was a good move then and it has paid dividends now. No use in anyone at USF denying it. Won't change that reality.

Not sure if that was aimed at me or not. It was a good (and necessary) move for UCF to build their stadium. Orlando was going to renovate the Citrus Bowl, potentially displacing displacing the Knights for a period of time. Plus, let's be 100% honest, the Citrus Bowl was a dump.

If somebody comes along and wants to pony up the cash for USF to have an OCS (we do have a fair number of wealthy alumni and Tampa residents, but USF has chosen to use their ego-driven desires to fund things like the Patel College of Global Sustainability, the Taneja College of Pharmacy or even Judy paying to have her name on the Honors College), then I'm perfectly happy to let them spend their money on an on campus stadium. But we play in one of the top stadia in the country that recruits love without paying rent (the link to which I posted upthread). We spend no more than $1.5MM/year to use that state of the art stadium. It would take a century to repay the $150MM it might cost to build a decent stadium. USF better not spend one freaking dime on that when they have so many needs on the campus right now. They're currently figuring out how to deal with an 8.5% budget cut (as are all of the other SUS campuses thanks to COVID). They damn near closed the College of Education (hot take - they should have! Most teachers get a degree in something else along with a teaching certificate instead of getting a degree with a major in education. Few if any Education majors can teach math or science, which is the greatest need, not somebody who knows the theory of designing a curriculum). An OCS is a pure luxury and not a necessity.

You can feel differently. It's fine. You're wrong.

You keep focusing on costs of stadium rent...but you never look at all the loss REVENUE usf doesn't receive from their rented stadium.

No concessions...no parking...no suite sales...only shared ad rates, etc...plus usf has to pay a $2.50 fee for every tix sold to the Tampa Stadium Authority.

Thats why usf's game day revenue is soooo low, especially compared to UCF, who now earns $3 Million plus for each and every home game.

LOL and this has to do nothing with the thread about USF’s new IPF.

Ah...just commenting on the above post which talked about "cheap rent" of an off-campus stadium and how said poster thought it was a big advantage...when its actually a determent in regards to revenue generation.

Aren't we allowed to reply to comments?

I could show you numbers that could show that yes a stadium is a revenue generator but it also creates expenses but once again this is not the thread for it. If you would like to start one we could look at those numbers but at the end of the day it will not change the reality of the real world situation of both schools. UCF built their stadium at a bare bones cost and USF chooses to rent an NFL stadium. Life goes on for both.

In part, it's "they hate us because they ain't us", as USF is clearly an excellent school in a superb location with sky-is-the-limit potential. We're better overall than UCF, for example.

But in fairness, it's hard to talk about an IPF without also talking about the elephant in the room, an OCS. I bet a discussion about the IPF on a purely USF board would have the OCS issue arising as well. It hasn't just been posters from other schools, USF fans have chimed in about this too.

And that’s fine on another thread. I’m for an OCS at USF, but I don’t want to get into a back and forth on a thread that it’s not about an OCS with UCF fans that will lead nowhere.
By the way I’m for an OCS NOT for financial reasons as with the extra income comes extra expenses that make the balance line pretty insignificant. I’m for it because of the intangibles it would bring in to the school in atmosphere etc. but 9nce again this is not the place for it because it just becomes an easy way for posters to derail anything related to USF and its success.

Academic snobbery again, that just shows that you all have nothing else to brag about. Also, the difference between a UCF and usf degree doesn’t mean much, when the average person hears “I got a degree from usf” they aren’t likely to think you are any smarter than someone who says they got their degree from UCF. Well, at least you get to brag about being a few spots ahead of us in the university rankings 03-lmfao

Three days since you posted this question and all the usf fans crying about wanting this thread to be about the IPF are nowhere to be found.

Sad.
