Really sucks when the AAC can't hold on to the Birmingham Bowl against the last SEC team to get a bowl and, the conference gets relegated to the Myrtle Beach, Frisco, and New Mexico Bowls. Have always backed Aresco but feel he has come up a little short on the Bowl and TV contracts this time around. Maybe he did the best he could with both and expectations were a little to high with the success this conference has had since its inception. If the AAC and the ACC rotate between the Gasparilla and Birmingham Bowl against the SEC this cycle that is not a bad move though as the AAC will still have the potential to play a P5 SEC team every year anyway. As for the Independence Bowl the contracts may have been signed before the ACC backed out of it. Maybe that will pop in and out as a Bowl Pool Selection site when the things finally get ironed out their.

Not the greatest line up of bowls, but at least we're getting a bigger payout overall according to the article.

And to be fair, our conference teams have not really held up our end of the deal in bowls. Have a losing record about every year in bowls.

I didn't expect much if any improvement and didn't get it. The bowls don't want anything outside the P5, and nothing the AAC can or has done will change that. They would rather get a 6-6 Wake forest than a 10-2 or 9-3 AAC school. It just is what it is.

Our champ just has to land the Ny6 bowl every year till 2025....

I'd say it is still in the works. IIRC, I don't think any conference has announced formally they are aligned with it. I bet the AAC has a play still to be announced. Aresco had to announce the known for the annual meetings.

I like the idea of a bowl game between the #2 and #3 power rated G5 schools annually in the Indy Bowl. The #1 team goes to the NY6 and these two battle it out with a good post XMas TV slot.

This actually seems worse to me than the previous. I mean I guess it could turn out decent if ESPN slots the American versus other P5's but this could turn out to be anything. I mean the Independence is pretty much going to go under at this point given who is even going to fill it?? I know the 8th PAC12 team is a reach but it would have been nice on paper to have it that as a potential option. Then put the last 3 in the ESPN bowl pool.

What’s dumb is that AAC 1, MWC 1, BYU, and Army should have formed a bowl alliance with two bowl games.

Yeah there's no lipstick that can be put on that pig. Only positive for me is there is a second bowl game I'd probably actually attend on that list, the Myrtle Beach Bowl, but I long ago decided bowls are a complete waste of time and money to attend and will only go to any if it's cheap and easy or if it's the access bowl.

Man, outside of the walls of this conference board, there is absolute hatred of us, our schools, and our conference. But, I think I am beginning to see it.

Honestly, We need a wartime consigliere...not a media Tool. My stance on Aresco I think officially changed. I guess..Ijoined the Aresco HAter Club.

So essentially, it appears we only have TWO guaranteed slots against the P5 opponents each year—and gave up a guaranteed bowl vs the Big10 so we could play in the absolute most fan unfriendly bowl in the world (costly, 5000 miles away, on Christmas Eve, vs friggin 6-6 Hawaii more often than not). Worse yet, rather than dropping our only out of footprint G5 vs G5 bowl—-we added one (New Mexico) and kept the lowest paying bowl in the US. We also managed to once again screw the West division that has no regular annual in footprint bowl vs a P5.

This bowl line up is a tire fire. I’d say it’s a step backwards as we committed to an extra year in Hawaii, added yet another distant out of footprint commitment to a G5 vs G5, blew off an annual game vs a P5 in the Quick Lanes, and lost one annual slot vs the SEC in Birmingham (West Division screwed again), and a rotating P5 slot in St Pete. Also gave up an annual in footprint P5 bowl for an out of footprint cold weather P5 bowl. Did we put a east coast geography challenged student intern in charge of this? How do you whiff on low hanging fruit in NOLA?

This is the kind line up you drop to the media at 6pm on a Friday.

Not enough schools travel in this conference. That's why you get ****** bowl tie ins. It is as simple as that.
