Well, I'm not going to get sucked into the debate of whose roster was better, but it was a roster that could've been in the Access Bowl conversation. We demolished that WMU team with our backup QB the season before and had basically the same offense, and the front 7 on defense might've been the best we've ever had.

That 2016 team had the potential to run the table if Fritz had stayed.
Granted we had some bad injury luck, but I do think some of that was attributable to our S&C falling off (and losing a fairly unqualified S&C coach due to sexual assault allegations in the preseason with no replacement due to poor vetting by the HC).
