“The Pac-12 will be the centerpiece of the next era of the Independence Bowl. During the next college football bowl cycle (2020-25)”

“To complete the rotation, the I-Bowl is immersed in discussions with BYU, Army and Group of Five conferences. Previous I-Bowl partners, Conference USA and the American Athletic Conference, would be a natural fit.”

Any of the regional G5 would be a good fit:
Rice
Tech
UNT
USM
SMU
Tulane
Houston
Memphis

Having gone two years ago, this is nice as a fallback but vastly inferior stadium to the Liberty Bowl from back in the day or the New Orleans Bowl today.

The Independence Bowl will feature Army as a part of the rotation of possible representatives for games during the next college bowl cycle (2020-2025). Army joins the Pac-12 -- the centerpiece of the I-Bowl's next era -- as members of the rotation set to begin in 14 months.

What are y’all hearing locally about bowl sponsorships? In the past, organizers maintained P5 matchups were necessary (at least in theory) to entice sponsors. Are they still sticking to this line of thinking? Other bowls are able to secure sponsors and would think it’d be doable there considering the proximity of multiple fanbases.

This would actually be a great move on the Indy Bowl's part if it happens, especially considering they are/were on the verge of being ostracized by ESPN. Having Army in any bowl game is good for said bowl game because military appreciation is in every corner of the US.

Haven't heard anything concerning sponsorships yet. They're losing Walk-On's Restaurant as a sponsor after this year. Once I do I'll post it. You're right about bowl organizers in the past thinking P5 matchups were necessary. You would think the bowl leadership for the Independence Bowl would have a different opinion now. The SEC and Big12 wanted nothing to do with them.
