Why did AAC pass? Do you have a link showing they were offered and passed to share?
AAC already had completed their bowl lineup and wasn’t interested anyway. That’s what I meant. Maybe passed is the wrong word.
Looks like a lot of fans on your message board were interested in the Independence, just scanning through the comments on your bowl thread.
Some were. Some weren't happy we didn't pursue it. I didn't care either way. Once the ACC, SEC, and Pac 12 backed out, it lost a little bit of it's attraction to me. I wouldn't have minded if the AAC signed it, but I'm ok with what was signed instead (Boston, Military, Gasparilla, Birmingham, etc.).
Your commissioner should be scooping up this bowl fast. Fits perfect in CUSA footprint.

Our commissioner is probably working hard to set up the North Alaska Bowl where C-USA hosts any school remotely bowl eligible after all other slots are full, that takes place at 11pm on Christmas Eve on the Hallmark Channel and it only costs all the TV money we are bringing in from all sources +$100,000 per school in the conference.

Dang....very late seeing this. I was (still am technically). I've been on the infinitiq50.org and infinitiq60.org forum since the beginning.

Moving the bowl to another location would excite me.

Odd that it hasnt been announced already. I mean---who's really left? Set your payout and get a CUSA and Sunbelt sign off.

That’s interesting, so PAC 12 vs Group of 5 (MWC, CUSA, MAC, AAC, Sunbelt) or BYU/ARMY

Basically the PAC #8 vs BYU, Army, AAC, or MWC when they can matchup a good game.
Otherwise PAC#8 goes into a ESPN bowl pool, and Indy gets filled by a MAC, Cusa, and Sunbelt matchup.

Incorrect. 2016 Independence matched up a P5 ACC vs CUSA passing up an AAC team that wanted a swap
Unless you have any other sources, obviously you don't. It will be PAC-12 vs BYU, Army or a G5 (MWC, CUSA, MAC, AAC, Sunbelt)

This is good news if you're:
SMU
Houston
UNT
Tulane
La Tech
Southern Miss
Memphis
Rice
ULL
ULM
Ark State
All of these schools are in reasonable driving distance (around 300 miles or less/5-ish hr drive or less).

AAC already announced their seven allotted slots. Unless it’s a backup/conditional or ESPN releases them from a previously contracted bowl, it’s unlikely the American involved.

AAC will be the last option in this deal. Ideally, the matchup is PAC #8 VS. CUSA or Sunbelt, but I'm sure they'd rather have BYU orArmy first. MWC schools are too far away to sell meaningful numbers of tickets.

As much as I want that to be the case, it will probably end up Army/BYU splitting all six years. 3 against the PAC 12, 3 against the rest.
Seems these days all we can hope for is to slip into a backup spot unawares.

This is what I mean the PAC has it split between ESPN bowl pool and Independence Bowl.
The PAC will either be playing a decent Army,BYU, MWC, or AAC team, you can bet they never play Cusa or Sunbelt in the Indepence Bowl.
ESPN would put them against one of the afformentioned choices in the Bowl pool instead.

lol, But yet it just happened in 2016 where a CUSA team bumped an AAC team that wanted in the Independence bowl to played a P5.
MWC Air Force would definitely move the needle because of Barksdale. This will be good for any regional G5.
