Hurd Announces Multiple Staff Promotions
Quote:DENVER – Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Jeff Hurd today announced several staff promotions. Ron Loghry was promoted from Senior Associate Commissioner to Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer, while David Chaffin was elevated from Associate Commissioner to Senior Associate Commissioner. Kristin Preble was promoted from a Director position to Associate Commissioner and Senior Woman Administrator, while Marlon Edge was elevated from Assistant Commissioner to Associate Commissioner of Compliance & Governance. Hope Shuler was promoted from Assistant Commissioner to Associate Commissioner of Media Services, while Chris Thompson was elevated from a Director position to Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations.

"The promotions are partially a result of changes in the conference office's internal structure, but they are more reflective of the work ethic and dedication of each of these individuals," Hurd said. "They are very well deserved."

Loghry, who was hired in January, will now handle the day-to-day internal operations of the conference. He also manages the overall financial management and human resources of the conference and is the sport administrator for men's basketball.

Chaffin is entering his 24th year at the WAC and oversees conference scheduling, replay services and video exchange while serving as the sport administrator for men's soccer, swimming and diving, golf and baseball. He is also the liaison to the WAC's officiating program.

Preble, who is in her fourth year at the WAC, oversees the league's championships and marketing. She is also the sport supervisor for women's soccer, women's basketball, tennis and softball.

Edge is in his fourth year at the WAC and oversees NCAA and conference rules compliance and governance. In addition, he serves as the liaison to the conference's Faculty Athletics Representatives, academic administrators and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (WAC SAAC). Edge also is the sport administrator for cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field.

Shuler is beginning her 12th year at the WAC. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the league's media relations and social media, she serves as the media contact for volleyball, men's basketball and softball. Shuler is also the sport administrator for volleyball.

Thompson joined the WAC in 2014 and is the primary media contact for men's soccer, women's basketball, baseball and golf.
