Hi pot. Meet kettle. You inserted the defense barb. I responded, and provided the stats to support the response.

Another poster appears to have mis-read the stats, and I corrected, and then some.

In that you’re back, and up to your usual standards, I’ll just call it a day ... better things to do than try to reason with you.

Best wishes to Marcus in France! Glad to see that he is back in the 'burg working out. He continues to be a big supporter of the program and to benefit it.

His number needs to be retired at a special ceremony and weekend. I'm sure that he and the athletic department will work it out for the appropriate time. Tony should be there.

Who brought up Shaver in the first place? Wasn't me. But keep fighting the war that's long over while the rest of the world has moved on.

Just curious but aren't you doing the same exact thing by bringing up defense - which was your repeated comment when he was a coach - for a coach that is no longer here? Maybe you should "move on" too.

I was trying to make a quick joke and not fight a long-finished war by repeatedly bringing up someone no one else was talking about. I should have realized that the true believers would respond with a full throated defense. I'm perfectly fine with never mentioning Shaver again but it's unlikely the true believers will do that.

Bernard E. Wilson was a very good coach, with 80 wins in 4 years ('47-'51). Does anybody know what happened to him? Did he leave for a more prestigious job? Retire?

Barney Wilson was the head coach at the time of the Scandal of 1951. He and Coach McCray (FB) were given the choice to resign or face hearings. Both resigned (both standing by their position that they were unaware of any grade tampering going on).

It was pretty amazing to consider, at a time when there were less than 1000 males on campus, both W&M Football and MBB were playing high level ball and competing evenly with the "big boys".

RE: It's time to Retire Marcus' Number.
BTW -- we confirmed the below via Tribe Athletics Info Dept:

- No Tribe player will ever wear #3 again.
- Terry Driscoll announced that No. 3 was set to be retired (long ago).
- Samantha Huge reiterated the same during the Town Hall last month.
- The ceremony will take place one day when Marcus' schedule allows.

I know there were those of you on here who noted a few of these, and those on social media, but it's good to hear it from an official source.
