Las Vegas Review Journal Update on MW TV Negotiations
So we now know at least one reason a MW front range school might reach out to the AAC. The expert in this article suggests that the next MW deal will probably fall somewhere between $2.8 million and $666K. Now, I suspect it will be above $666K because I think ESPN+ will be interested. The question really is "How interested?"

“They’re currently between the CBS deal and the ESPN deal somewhere in the $16, $17 million-a-year range. If ESPN-Plus is interested, they could double that easily. If ESPN is not interested, they could be looking at a 50 percent haircut.”

so huge paycut if they attempt to stick with liner tv

slight increase if they sell out and go full on digital...and its not even their choice, but the choice is if espn even wanted them on espn+ to egin with

wow that sucks....

I will be surprised if they go backwards. but also doubt the double. 1.5 to 2 mil seems likely to me.

I realize they may never join because of rivalries, but I'd like to see Colorado State join.

Boise St has a sweetheart deal which allows their home games to be marketed separately. The present deal brings $2.9 million per year for Boise while the rest of the MWC obtains only $1.1 million each.

The special treatment must irk AF and SD St. The time might be ripe to pounce.

I'm with you. I think they are a school that no one talks about but could sneak in.

If these numbers are accurate, no need to "pounce", they'll come calling. But the rule still applies - they have to bring financial & performance value to the AAC to be considered.

If they offer sufficient value, then the AAC should pursue them behind the scene. I do not want hubris to stop a good deal for AAC members.

Yikes... Doesn't look good at all for the MWC... If I am a mwc member I'll get the AAC on the horn asap... One huge problem though, majority of their members don't bring much to the table.

It would be interesting to know which MWC programs have contacted us, if what you say is correct.

I’m not sure who the most valuable programs are but would imagine that Boise State, Colorado State, Air Force and SDSU would be at the top with New Mexico close behind.

I don’t think that UNLV would be near the top despite their location.

I would think most every MW school that doesn’t have a special deal would be looking to take over UConns slot.

Hey Jjoey...looks like the MWC isn't that great. Your TV deal is going to be a joke. This is Exhibit A on why 90% of the MWC teams have contacted AResco and the AAC office about taking UCONN's slot.

That's 5 mwc members on that group not counting UNLV... If those five put together had any value the MWC wouldn't be struggling for a tv deal.

If the AAC doesn't land it's top target/s here hope we remain at 11
