RE: ***2019 football W/L predictions***
I've got 8-4...
Probably 2-2 vs OOC
3-1 vs. middle section losing to EMU or WMU
3-1 vs final section, slipping up to UB or losing to NIU again.
6-6 would be the worst probably going 1-3 OOC, then 5-3 in the MAC. 11-1 the ceiling splitting BYU and Kentucky?

Objective me: With quarterback play a mystery, the loss of 3 receivers who potentially will make their respective NFL rosters, and a defensive front that I feel is one year way from being respectable:
Definite wins: BSU, BGSU, KSU and Murray St
Should wins: UB, CMU, EMU, and WMU
Probable losses: NIU (no reason to believe Candle has figured out how to beat NIU when NIU isn't down, no matter who is coaching them), CSU (weird and long road game with no real history, BYU, and the bowl game (defense will not be good enough yet)
Definite loss: Kentucky
Final record of 8-5
Homer Me: A host of speedy receivers and Mitch's running threat will combine with a strong running game to dominate teams and the defensive front will be ready a year early. Final record 11-2

More than likely 7-5 unless Guadagni stays healthy and the receiving corps exceeds expectations.

Bring in Bradley and Finn as QB's and we will go 14-0. I don't buy into that theory if we have two QB's then we have none. We have some players on both sides of the ball. I say play them.

7-5, after a 1-3 start. But then another bowl loss. I think we’re a season away.

If we are not counting in a bowl game I am with the 7-5 crowd, of course 8-4 would not be a reach, but anything more would be a shock to me, uncertainty at QB and WR and continued issues with defense are issues of concern, usually one thing turns out to be better than expected but not all your weaknesses

Don't have QB issue.
Need better OL play:
Pass blocking
Short yardage blocking
Cut out penalties
No stupid bad snaps
Get FB in the endzone instead of settling for FG's
Need major improvements on Defense:
Can't afford to sell out pass defense to defend the run
Better pash rush
More blitz packages
Better penetration by DL
No long pass plays on first down or conversion of 3rd and long by opponents.
Execute, execute, execute.
With that said, anything less than 9-4 would be disappointing. Should win the MAC West.
Another year of poor/mediocre performance and some changes need to be made.

"Issue" implies we really have no clue/don't have players. I would agree we don't really have an issue in the sense that there's no one ready to step up. Uncertainty maybe, but I think if MG can learn to go through his progressions and not tuck it and run so often, he will stay healthy and be effective. FWIW, Brian Wright was interviewed on the podcast most recently released and stated that they have spent a lot of time with him working on getting through his reads since last season ended.

RE: ***2019 football W/L predictions***
As for my prediction, 9-3 with losses to UK, CSU or BYU, and NIU or WMU.
L @Kentucky
W Murray State
W/L @CSU
W/L BYU
W/L WMU (HC)
W @BGSUcks
W @BSU
W EMU
W KSU Tues
W/L NIU Weds
W @UB Weds
W @CMU Fri
I think we split BYU/CSU. I know CSU has been bad but we haven't faired well playing out west lately so it's not a gimme. I am sure we will take a lump somewhere in the MAC schedule but I just don't know where that would be at this point. Likely NIU or WMU. I think we get after EMU after last year's fiasco.

We have a plethora of talented QB's. All I'm saying is play them. What's it gonna hurt? Why recruit 4 Star Bradley and Mr. Football Michigan Finn if we have no intentions of letting them participate. Next thing you know they'll be in The Transfer Portal. The future is now. Remember we were 7-6 last year.

besides switching out QB due to terrible play or injuries, has moving QBs in and out the lineup, or during games, really been a means to a successful season? Always thought the approach to have team rally around one QB as leader was the winning model?

I agree 7-5, just not feeling it after watching nearly every game last year and knowing who we have coming back. We will beat the teams we should and wilt elsewhere. Zero confidence in any of the qbs we've seen. Defense was porous last year. Where did we get better on the defensive side of the ball in the off season? Maybe we have the second coming of the Bears 46 defense who redshirted last year? Unless someone can convince me we got better, I'm expecting more of the same. I was optimistic last year and about the only thing that suprised me was how good Koback is. I expected Seymore to be our stud RB.

2011, which was the year that Owens and Dantin alternated every couple series for most of the season. That was UT's best scoring season in history, averaging 42 points per game, scoring 72 touchdowns. They combined for 3400 yards passing (2000 Owens, 1400 Dantin) and about 400 yards rushing. Now they did have Eric Page to throw to, and he caught 125 that year, but they came from both QBs.

I will be surprised if Guadagni is not the starter. He played last season with very inconsistent O-Line IMO, but his 162 Passer rating was still 4th best in school history. I think with improved O-Line play he has the potential to be the best QB in the MAC. Of course, a couple WRs are gonna have to step up too in order for that to happen.
