Take CSU, and shake the MWC tree to see what else could fall out. I believe, once the news starts to break about CSU, there will be better options than SDSU and Fresno St.
Similar to a “prisoners dilemma” case
I would absolutely invite CSU, and sit back and see who twitches. When the others on the Eastern side of the MWC start looking at replacement options for CSU, they will start to have second thoughts about staying.
I would hope for AFA and Boise St. to follow, but wouldn’t be disappointed with AFA and Army, if it came to that.
That being said, once CSU and AFA got on board, you have to know that the pressure the Boise St administration would be under to jump into the AAC rather than stick around in what was left of the MWC plus 2 other replacement misfits, would be high.
Hypothetically, who would the MWC try to add to replace AFA and CSU? The prospects are crap, but worse than ours. Let them try and figure it out with a fraction of a media deal we have.
I say just take 1 until you can get the 3 best.
Just add CSU quickly and then slide Memphis to the East. Then kick back and watch the phone lines light up.
But does CSU actually add value/competitive advantage vs current make-up, or are we adding them just because an even number of teams would be nice?

Some folks just want to 'what if'. The answer is only BYU adds value for FB only or maybe BSU - for FB only. Adding either along the best BB school within our current geo footprint & it will probably add $$ value to the conference - no other FB schools can add value. And as someone said somewhere, the AAC is no longer in the position to need to consider potential.

RE: BYU Football only
Once it appears that Army and BYU are absolutely not interested... I do think we should pursue the next best twelfth candidate. That list is probably either CSU or AFA. Sorry to say, nothing in cUSA, MAC, SB really moves the needle for me...
For some reason, I'm just not comfortable holding at 11 for long... it's an odd number and creates some complications. If Army and BYU are out, really out and won't be convinced, we may as well move on and pull the trigger and get #12 in so they can start benefiting and growing their program.

Don't think an all-sports invite will ever be offered to Colorado St...
That Univ is 71 miles away from Denver International Airport (most Olympic Sports teams fly commercial)...and in addition to a LONG flight...just not convenient to fly into Fort Collins, CO for those sports teams.
Now since Football Teams fly charter and can fly almost directly into most college towns...football travel is usually never a worry...since most teams wouldn't have to fly out there but once every 2 to 4 years.
Not much difference to rent a bus and drive 1 hour than it is to rent a bus and drive 30 minutes.

Not the greatest but you are taking someone from a "peer" conference instead of CUSA or Sun Belt

Why would Colorado St want to leave the MWC?
They have 2 MWC members basically within a 1 hour (Wyoming) and 2 hour (Air Force) drive. (Great for Olympic Sports plus helps draw thousands of visiting fans to your home games...something most AAC teams could never produce.
Colorado St mainly recruits in the Mountain/Pacific time zones...where the MWC is located...and not the East Coast...so they would lose a ton of exposure on the West Coast.

When main and side roads are closed due to snow...yeah...not easy to get to DIA from Fort Collins.

That portion of I-25 is rarely closed. It does have bad traffic quite often, but so do all the routes from airports to campuses in our conferences.
