No press release, total silence? No statements, no radio, no social media. All during a dead period. What the hell do these people do all day? If u want to play the P6 game ask yourself this, if another P5 program lost a prominent member would their commish say nothing for several days?

My guess is, these things just move a lot more slowly than we would prefer... nature of the beast. We actually have to wait for UConn to officially leave... then dialog with ESPN about the contract and replacement candidates... then start to ping Army, BYU or whoever on interest... THEN negotiate with anyone willing to join us. And I'd hope all that takes place privately, not in the media. All just my guess though of what is happening behind the scenes.

There isn’t much to say really. As long as he gets us BYU, he can do whatever he wants

The value of UConn women’s bball is insanely overrated. It’s a cute talking point but watching the actual games is not fun. Geno said
on a podcast that the team has a group of UConn male students they scrimmage and the men crush the ladies. Let that sink in. Its silly.

Things have to go on behind closed doors, get sign sealed and delivered, etc. before public statements are made.

Right now the closed door stuff is going on...meeting with schools who have reached out to the AAC, talking to UCONN for definitive dates, talking to UCONN about how they won't be allowed to keep their football parked in the AAC, talking to ESPN, etc.

Let me tell you in sports who cares about a university being land grant, NO ONE.

This.

The AAC will release a statement sometime today or tomorrow after UConn formally accepts.

The statement will be nondescript, but will state UConn will not be allowed to be a partial member and will essentially state that the AAC will weigh all our options, including whether to stand pat at 11.

The WBB ratings in general are terrible. It is what it is.

Re women's hoops:
If I said it once, I've said it 100 times...I'd rather watch the men's hoops team play in the NIT than the women's team play in the NCAA final four.

If the women's hoops team won the national title, I'd take it, as it adds to your schools national titles pot, but I wouldn't watch the game. I'd read in the news they won it all and think, "oh, cool" and then move on reading the news.

Just don't care.

An associate. AD was asked about it the other day and said everyone’s under a strict gag order. Too bad Tom Bowen got fired. We’d probably have gotten something out of him.03-lmfao

I'm hoping it all takes place publicly. We'd have a chance, collectively, to publicly veto any kind of Greg Schiano-type catastrophe (like adding Georgia State) from taking place.

Standard operating procedure. Wait until the ink is dry, then speak. We will likely know everything from press sources long before Aresco gives a statement.

UCONN has not officially said they are leaving. Why would they comment? So far everything is from 3rd party sources.

NOTE: Not saying i don't think they leave, they will 100% leave. But you don't make official statements based on 3rd party sources like this.

I admire the their skill, but I only have time for a few sports and women's basketball does not make the cut.

Biased but I disagree here. An elite WBB program generally carries its own weight and its one less mouth to feed from the FB/MBB pot. I'm aware that UConn lost money on their team, but they're also paying Geno Auriemma a ridiculous amount of money that most schools don't pay. Now that the Huskies are leaving the AAC will be a much more competitive league because we won't have everyone getting destroyed by the UConn Death star every year.

We've gotten over 1m per year for our women's basketball rights in previous media deala. There's a difference between being a women's basketball team and being a women's hoops team that goes on 70-100 game winning streaks.

Do I care to watch the games? **** no lol. But a lot of girls actually do. There's a reason their games are the most attended for most if not all of their opponents. And when they're on one of their dominant winning streaks, they actually do get prime time slots on ESPN, with high viewership.

Don't underestimate the loss. There's a reason ESPN wanted the product.
