Ok got it...we stay at 11... Take UConn's portion of the contract and establish a New Years eve or New Years day Bowl. None of splitting BS with anyone waiting to leave in 6 years.

Actually if we stay at eleven I think this is a solid plan, but we could do a 4 million pay out for it to the opposing conference and just evenly split the rest. At 4 million for a p5 team that is the equivalent of the citrus pay out or a semi final game.

Looks good...

Three years later...
VCU, Dayton, Wichita, St Louis leave and take the name AAC with them

(AAC FB officially renames itself as the “Pan Papa Prolific Proud Pretty Playas” - Or “P6” for short)

Couple years later Temple decides to tag along to the new AAC with above 4

History repeats...

Actually the likelihood is that the Academies (actual football only), Wichita, St. Louis, Dayton, and VCU, along with Tulsa and Tulane stick around and are the core of the conference to build around with whoever else is left that's a decent beginning or even a stand pat conference. Add SMU and ECU and actually it's a solid league basketball and football even after a major 6 team raid.

Seriously, good points.

Just seems like a lot of moving parts to manage... but probably like you said good insurance against whatever the future brings

Uh, didn't we learn from the whole hybrid conference thing already? How about we find a way to get Navy to put all its sports in the AAC and find another all sports partner? (That or get Wichita State to bring back football. I'm up for either one or both, really.)

No we didn't.

The big east had a split between all sports and Olympic sports team.

This conference is 10 all sports, 4 football only, four Olympic sports. The "basketball.is balanced by teams who are strictly football schools. The conference would be controlled by the all sports members who have a controlling majority no matter what. Also is creates a foundation of schools who are good but unlikely to be poached by p5. If you believe the p5 realignment is coming some schools will get left out. That's four strong basketball schools and five football schools, some with national brands to build from.
