Look, I'm not holding my breath that USM will get the invite because it's gonna come down to who ESPN tells them to get plain and simple...and I don't foresee USM being in that conversation. But if the AAC truly wants to improve the quality of their football and live up to the "power" they have then they need to look no further than Southern Miss football. But again, I highly doubt it's going to happen.

You could add the fact those teams averaged more fans in the stands in games played against us and that we tended to be one half of some of the highest rated tv matchups in CUSA history. It wouldn’t change the fact that it’s history. We’re not the only program that’s out there that’s won a lot of games, and some of those have better history than we do.

Their conference could use some stronger, more traditional rivalries, but they are still doing just fine without them.

We could argue history and competitiveness on this board until we all keel over from boredom, and it still won’t make those subjects the driver of the realignment bus.

After all, if it did, we would not still be in CUSA.

I think ESPN is fully aware of the potential and power that Southern Miss brings.

Impressive stats. If there's any team that deserves the bid more than Marshall it's Southern Miss.

He went on their spouting that USM was already a done deal because of a ‘source’ he had and people got sick of it.

Well this certainly livened the Summer up. This board was fricking dead.

You know if Houston wasn't there, it wouldn't be worth it. If they eventually leave, and stick us with Tulane, SMU, and Tulsa, we'll be wanting to kill ourselves all over again.

Houston, Memphis, ULaLa, La Tech, UAB, and USM, would be a better division.

Congrats, but this is not how conference affiliation is decided. If it did USM would have been in the Big East 2.0 back in 2005-2012, UC and USF would have made it to the ACC instead of Pitt and Syracuse, and/or UC would have been picked over Louisville for the ACC after Maryland (UC has edge in all-time football series).

I really miss seeing USM play against traditional rivals like ECU, Tulane, Memphis, Houston... UCF when they came of age... I’d buy whatever TV package was required to see that again.

I miss playing USM. I became an ECU fan in the 90's and some of the most memorable games (good and bad) I saw were against USM. If I had a vote assuming it wouldn't negatively affect the TV deal one way or the other it would for sure be for USM.

I got banned for correctly noting that UCF didn't actually win the national championship last year.
