When the Jackets travel back up to Blacksburg in 2020, if the Good Lord willing allows my health to get there, I'll buy you multiple brews of your choice and you can make sense of JMU alum Babcock's non-conference scheduling strategies.

In the 30 years I've lived in God's Country, I can't recall a worse season ticket for Hokies fans than 2019. I'm guessing the pulse of Hokies fans is not happy about it but it is what it is and get through it in '19.

Saw this today online which I'm sure has made the rounds... https://thespun.com/college-football/esp...9-schedule

Babcock has got to do better than this.

I don’t see anything wrong with this schedule. This is not the VPI of 10 years ago, today’s VPI is middling and rebuilding. This is a smart schedule that will ensure a bowl game and they do have ND, so it is not all bad.

I work with a bunch of Hokie alum engineers. I've yet to find one of them that is pleased with this 2019 schedule. Further, lots of question marks from them (as I have) about future schedules. But, that's a different discussion for a different time that I hope to have with Hokie Mark or other Gobblers at a tailgate in the future over some beers.

The away game schedule is decent... the home schedule is AWFUL!

2019 VT Home Schedule
Old Dominion
Furman (FCS)
Duke
Rhode Island (FCS)
UNC
Wake Forest
Pitt

First of all, how do you get Duke, UNC and Wake at home all in the same year? Add to that 2 FCS games and ODU... the ONLY truly interesting game is Pitt (though Mack Brown adds a little juice to the UNC game). Maybe the Hokies lost to ODU last year on purpose just so there would at least be a revenge angle this year...?

Mr. Swofford is awaiting your call.

I take it you would rather see FSU, Clemson, NC State, or Louisville at home this year?

We would be more than happy to switch divisions with you:

VT - UVa
BC - Duke
Syr - Pitt
WF - NC State
CU - GT
FSU - Miami
Lou - UNC

You will find getting around Clemson and FSU to more difficult than getting around the rest of your Coastal buddies.

As a fan, I'll take that trade immediately!
(I will miss Pitt, GT and Miami; once every 6 years is enough for the others)

I'll alert Boo that you have agreed on behalf of the Hokies.

It's settled, then. When can we expect the league to vote on this?

I would be curious to know how State has voted in the past on the current alignment, and whether they would vote for this one.

Since you're doing hypotheticals, how about this?

BC - Clemson
Cuse - Pitt
L'ville - FSU
UNC - NC State
UVA - VT
Duke - GT
Wake - Miami

That right side should break ACC attendance records!
