We do like to emphasize the "student" in "student athlete" and it really isn't great for their study time to fly them off on long journeys to the south and southeast from our far flung outpost in the northeast.
Bash away, but this just makes sense. If you date a girl and you don't make each other better, then stop dating each other. We weren't making each other better, so it's over. Don't worry, we will still pick up dinner and return your texts if you still want to be friends.
After this series of academic scandals...I don't ever want schools to discuss academics like its a serious thing ever again.
I just can't take that seriously anymore.

At least we're done with UConn's excuses. Odd how Temple has been highly successful in this league...
Anyway, we won't miss them much if we give an all-sports invitation to BYU or, more likely, just add VCU / Army.

Reading some forums, apparently Uconn fans think that Cinci and Temple would jump at the same opportunity they were offered. How could you guys?

They can't afford a football program, be better of just scrapping the whole thing to pay off debt and come back in a few years as FCS or maybe CUSA will let you in as a fball and olympic sport member. It's also unfortunate about your baseball program, they were starting to get Natl pub and making a name. That all is ruined.
You guys better make damn sure your bball team is annually top 15 or this move is REALLY REALLY dumb. We will certainly miss your womens bball and baseball programs though.
More and more centered around football? In my opinion, the way things are going with head injury research, high school football is likely to either not exist or take a hit in the coming years.
I love college football and this move puts a pit in my stomach on the football side of tihngs, but it has to be done for basketball. That is our history and that must be our future. We can't burn basketball to save football when another round of P5 realignment may never come.
aac is a multi bid league...you arent burning basketball staying here
I agree. I actually think that the AAC and Big East are fairly comparable. It is just that fan interest is less for us in the AAC and that impacts recruiting (which impacts winning). So, I do think that the Big East will help to restore our winning ways (only because of geography and increased attendance). Is it worth pretty much torching our football program for? Well, not to me. Most of our fan base would disagree, though. I would have been happy growing the AAC and seeing what happens.
I am excited for Big East basketball, but the impact to football doesn't sit well with me. I still prioritize basketball over football, but I wasn't in the "who cares about football?" camp. Whether or not there would have been more P5 realignment (which I doubt), the AAC is quality football and that can't be dismissed. In my opinion, the AAC is a tougher league than the Big East was for the 10 years preceding the AAC
You guys are screwing the pooch. It's totally Knee jerk. You want to be Villanova. I get that, but I think you're over-reacting to a couple of down seasons. I think this is not going to end well. Uconn fans should be mad as hell. This is so short term thinking. Terrible move.

lol I can't speak for Temple, but we have invested WAY WAY too much money in fb and our school is in an area that actually gives a crap about football.
NO way.

What this cat said. We have no connection to the new BE other than our annual Big 5 game against nova. We are performing well in both football and basketball in the American. Attendance is on the upswing. Any UConn fan who thinks Temple would jump at the chance to do what the Huskies are doing is delusional. We’d be better off jumping off a cliff.
