I bet UConn will either be out of the football business or in the lower division by 2025. FBS football teams are expensive and there is no football conference, bowl, or college playoff money coming in. I suspect they'll sell themselves as whipping boys for P5 teams for a while and make money there. They have sunk so much money in the football they can't just dropped the program right now.

Throwing good money after bad is an even worse idea. Just shoot it and be done with it.

It's like the old and ailing family dog. They probably know what's best but nobody wants to do it.

I'm sure half the G5 programs just added a google alert for "UCONN estate sale"

Not trolling, just saying that some nice facilities. Can I have your locker room when you die?

RE: "UConn football" Twitter account tweets out team's new look 4 2019.
I understand why UConn made this move, I really do. I don't agree with the idea, but I get that they needed to re-invigorate their fanbase, and quick to get the excitement back, and the donations flowing.

What I don't understand is why they aren't being honest with themselves about what they are doing to football. I said the below on the main realignment board. Shoot it and be done.

"There just isn't a point to it. Schools like UMass, Liberty, NMSU, etc are throwing money at the football program in hopes that they move their way up the power chain over time. You can call that foolish, and I understand that point, but they are investing in hopes of it paying off down the line.

UConn made it up the chain. They've taken their shot, and they've decided it didn't work and/or it was never going to happen. There isn't a reason to keep throwing money into football anymore. The AAC was what most programs could realistically hope to land that invest in football (I think we can all agree the P5 is shrinking, not expanding). UConn just exited that stage left.

There is no point remaining to their football program. So, just shoot it and be done. Just be honest about the decision you've made."

If i was a FCS player i would pick UCONN over the others for just the locker rooms.
but would the administration even care to put your picture up above your locker at that point?

i'd figure they would treat it like your mom does the living room with the white carpet or fine china. it's all for looks you really eat at the "other living room".

actually i can definitely see the coaches showcasing the new recruits the "locker room" only to have them sign and do all their real changing in some closet.

i think they'll will at least one of the better FCS programs.
