Navy doesn’t want to be in the East. They want to be with the similar, low-enrollment schools (Tulane, SMU, & Tulsa). That’s why they’re in the West now. They might leave altogether rather than switch divisions were that a choice.
The service academies can be a lot pickier about conference affiliation because they’re not just chasing money like everybody else is. That’s also why Air Force will never leave the MWC without Wyoming & Colorado State.

Reports are out now that James Madison is willing to move their football program up to FBS in exchange for an AAC invite.

Good luck with that. If Hattiesburg is “middle of nowhere”, Harrisonburg might as well be located on the far side of the moon.

I saw that this morning. We’ll expand our stadium to seat 60,000 if the Big 12 offers us an invitation, too.
Some of this “news” defies all common sense. An FBS start-up with a smaller academic endowment than ours in a smaller market than Hattiesburg with a basketball team historically no better than ours? Come on, now.
I don’t know exactly what JMU is up to, here, but it’s not thinking they can join the AAC. They’re just throwing it out there to test the water with the Sun Belt & CUSA or something.

Dust, Bleacher, and HArbor are all pretty much spot on with some of their posts. Mind boggling how delusional many of these AAC fans are.
Its funny (and sad) that they are practically on their knees begging to get BYU to join. Then, all upset and butthurt when they realize that BYU not only has zero interest in joining the AAC, but also looks down at the entire conference and laughs at them. USM actually has a lot of support on that board, but a lot of idiots over their seriously believe schools like James Madison, Virginia Commonwealth, Liberty and Old Dominion would be superior members. To me, USM is clearly the best fit and would benefit the conference the most and I think think (and hope) they will get serious consideration. At the same time, I'm kinda looking forward to a disaster of a decision.

Too bad message board posters don't decide who joins conferences.UAB and USA make the most since for the AAC. Prove me wrong.
