How does UConns departure affect the AAC media contract?
I seem to recall reading about a clause in the contract that allowed ESPN to amend the deal if there is any change in membership. Does anybody else know the specifics?

RE: How does UConns departure affect the AAC media contract?
“For the AAC, the loss of UConn is not expected to impact the television deal significantly. In the contract language, the departure of just one school from the AAC wouldn’t trigger a termination of the deal from ESPN.”

They haven't been good for years in anything and were not a factor in the TV deal. Might get a bump with the right add.

Aresco is looking like a genius for insuring no 1 team leaving can void the deal...smart move

No one cares about UCONN. If they were Houston, Cincy, Memphis, UCF that would be different. ESPN is probably smiling because they underpaid for us to begin with and now we are a way stronger football conference. Without adding anyone to replace UCONN.

I think our conference's net worth actually just went up. With the right add, we could add some REAL value..

You guys will be able to claim our national titles in mens and women's basketball still...plus you have the ncaa ps4 national title ucf built. But in all seriousness uconn either

A. Was told something from Aresco which made them think this is hopeless

B. SNY signed up to air whatever football games we have

C. There is a Syracuse and BC alum running the school

But what IS the right realistic add that could increase our value? I don't see it. We don't make enough to entice Boise or BYU, and I think that's the end of the list.

It's a puzzling move to me. You just threw football under the bus to play basketball with some of your old rivals, some of which are regional, for maybe less money.

I hope for your sake that increased basketball attendance and donations, if you get them, are enough to compensate. Football will never get out of the hole now. Recruiting, as bad as it already was, will die.

Basketball recruiting will flourish. Football...not so much.

UConn recruited well for 2019. How will a swap of schools make a material difference?

Also if someone told them the big east would be safe if there was ever a break away and would compete at the highest levels in basketball....which is what we wanted anyway

invest in USM.
The Big East took a chance inviting Memphis all sports.
Our football was really bad then.
The increased money and exposure would help Southern Miss in recruiting and hiring better coaches.

Their football used to be the standard that a lot of schools then were shooting for.

I wouldn't be so quick with that. Read the tweets about the contract being subject to "Fair negotiation" when a conference member leaves.
