Right, my opinion BYU isn't coming and none of the Mountain West teams are coming. One of the biggest issues with this conference is how spread out it is geographically. When adding a team I hope they keep this in mind

Yep, let an AAC team have an extra OOC game every so often

You already chose Central CT State.

Keep UCONN football? Seriously?

Exactly. So many bans should be handed out for trolling in this thread.

priority one: the true west
sdsu
byu
gonzaga
boise

priority 2 - the easy option
11 in football- have top 2 teams play for the conference championship
good local basketball adds- vcu or dayton or rhode island

priority 3- the money grab option
army- as a football only

Options by Priority:

1. add one or two MWC schools
2. add football only (e.g., Army) and basketball only (eg, VCU)
3. add one all sports with emphasis on football (e.g., UAB). UAB is making significant athletic investments, performed well in football, and sits in a football media hotbed.

Also why? We don't have to decimate them, they are in a pretty steady decline in football and they fell off a cliff in basketball. They weren't a threat to begin with, Boise St football was, the rest of that conference has done **** all in football in their whole history. Hawaii is the only other team to ever have a ny6 game in history.

As somebody who roots for Memphis, I'd prefer Southern Miss because they travel well here for football and have a lot of alumni in the mid south. Memphis also travels well to Hattiesburg in the recent past. There is a rivalry with Tulane too. I know they've been down, but given this opportunity, would greatly change the fortunes of their entire athletic department. They've proven they can be good in hoops too. It's just been a minute. Baseball is good too. They've always done more with less.

Also, UAB, Marshall and ODU seem like decent options.

This conference doesn't need to hang on to New England. It's a midwestern, mid-atlantic and southern league now. Don't go outside of that footprint, and don't make the same mistake as the old CUSA and Big East's with the partial membership infatuation. It works with Wichita and Navy. But you want to limit the amount of those kinds of partnerships.

UAB all sports.

St. Louis and VCU for Olympics.

Close up geography. Cincinnati, Temple, St. Louis are as far north as we go. St. Louis is an easy trip for Cincy, WSU, Tulsa, Memphis. VCU isn't too bad for Temple, good for ECU. UAB ties UCF and USF to the rest of the conference easy for Memphis, Tulane, not bad for Houston or Cincinnati.

If CSU, AFA, SDSU, and Boise left for the AAC, this would cause a huge movement in the G5. MWC would backfill with UNT, RICE, UTEP, and one of NMSU, TXST, or UTSA. Then there might be a collaboration between the SBC and CUSA.

this if we HAVE to expand because ESPN tells us to...if not, stay at 11 and we all get a money raise.

I don't hate that option at all. Still not a fan of the olympic only members. Though I will say I love having Wichita State in this league. Mainly because it feels like a natural fit.

They are broke. Football hasn't been great lately. Hattiesburg is a pain to get in and out of for everyone else. They suck at every other sport besides baseball.

Staying at 11 has some possibilities, if we can get the waiver on divisions. Navy would probably love that as they could really hop around for their national profile and it could possibly knock down some travel costs for most of the other schools.

My vote would be some crazy-ass scheme to get ODU *and* VCU up in here, but I'm not sure I can draw a feasible path to that. Army/VCU, ODU, other all-sports school TBA? But you're not likely to go to 14 in football unless you get the rump Big 12 after the next big realignmentpalooza.

If you can convince Army to join and find a way through the prickly bushes of the Army-Navy game, then that and VCU might be your best bet. Otherwise, take the best available G5 program you can.

I wonder if the Big 12 doesn't see all this going down and thinks why don't we pluck Houston in the process. But I'm just speculating.
