They bring nothing in football. Do not let them stay at FB only member. Let them go to their pitiful BE in basketball and be done with them.

If true, it’s time to say hello to Marshall, Dayton, and VCU.

UCONN belongs in the Big East. Kick them out, add Southern Mississippi.

Only half joking, but can we get someone else to leave and get back to 10?

That media deal is a lot better for 10 members if ESPN doesn't have a way to modify...

At least one reputable person on the UConn boneyard says it's absolutely true if we are playing the unproven sources game.

I actually think it is. UConn has been going downhill for a while now in all sports. They are pushing their chips in the middle trying to save their main sport. I don't blame them, though I'm betting it doesn't turn out how they hope.

Anyway we can kick out UCONN before next season starts?

Why let them play in our league one more year when they aren’t even supposed to be really good yet, just kick them out ASAP.

Lol kick them out the day before basketball starts so they have no way to make the tourney again.

lol 0% chance of accuracy..none

the fact anyone is even remotely believing this is funny to me

also i checked on this credible uconn source on their board..he speaks in 3rd person....and has underwear as his icon lol

update for everyone who wants to remove common sense for the discussion...uconn is a public institution there is no way a decision like this would not have been noticed ...their has to be public meetings for stuff like this and state approvals...all of which would have tons of leaks throughout the process

if the article was saying there was "heavy discussions" about potentially leaving that might have been more believable..but to have no name site with no ties to uconn breaking a story that uconn "IS" leaving and already has a date (in 1 season) is silly to me

hurley just 2 days ago was talking about recruiting for the aac on the podcast i posted...im guessing he didnt know either? lol

RE: UCONN to leave AAC in basketball - UConn report
This would line up with their warchest revenue boost running out. Also, blowing up football reduces costs. They are running in the red big time and are losing donors for hoops. Reinvigorates the hoops base and allows them the sny deal for women’s hoops. It may be why it was announced that they could keep sny via the espn deal while details were to be worked out. The espn deal is escalating so it would be big time short term losses, higher costs for the broadcast production and the war chest leftovers this season may explain the time frame. When the AD and president poi poo the deal publicly it’s bad. FWIW UCF was NOT happy with this deal either.

The source is probably bogus, so you are right on that. But this makes a ton of sense. The smoke might be legit. UConn has a lot of incentive to leave because of their desperation.

I’m betting they jumped the gun, but this scenario is pretty realistic. Hurley certainly wouldn’t find out much earlier than the rest of us, for the record.

This makes more sense in 2024 or 25 but not now. If true, UConn is essentially giving up football and tying their future to basketball and the *new* Big East. Also giving up any chance of ever belonging to a P5 conference. Way premature.
