Sorry for the ignorant question, and for the laziness in not looking it up for myself.
Is the party nominee decided by an open primary? If so, why would there not be an effort by Alabama Democrats to cross over and vote for the pedophile in the primary?
Okay, I actually got around to looking it up. Alabama uses a primary system. First vote is March 3. If no one gets a majority, there is a top-two run off on April 14.
I could not find a specific requirement that voters register by party, but that seems to be implied.

Voters may choose which primary they wish to vote in, but they can only vote in one. When I check in at the polls they check my DL and my residence. You are not required to give a party affiliation but you may if you wish.
In the old days runoffs were the norm. Brewer and Wallace had a duesy, but that was when Alabama was as solid blue as it is red today. The way to control Moore is to have several solid candidates and try to cut him down to 3rd in the primary.

If he wants to run, let him.
The folks will either elect him or not.
It is interesting, though, that the fake yearbook signature and accusations went silent once it was mission accomplished.
So, some people don't like his Christian perspective on politics. So what.
Just an FYI for folks...
Moving away from this nation's Christian heritage and founding is the primary reason we find ourselves in the sick, perverted moral sewer of today's society.

They won't let me vote for Moore. I would if I could. I must say, I do enjoy a good Republican circus.
