Welcome aboard Bellarmine Knights!

I'm fine with going ahead. Do they have fans on here?

You do now. Thanks for the welcome -- it's great to be here!

Love it. It's a sign (of what I don't know).

Like I said, it's great to be here, and I'm tremendously excited about Bellarmine's move up to D-I and the ASUN. BU has done a terrific job marketing the move, and our men's head basketball coach (the great Scott Davenport) is relentless as usual in promoting his program and the university in general. It's big news around Louisville.

There are several of us Bellarmine fans who are frequent posters over at d2messageboard.com, and I suspect some of my chums will join me here.

Feel free to ask anything about BU, and I'll try to answer. First point, in case anyone is wondering: the pronunciation is along the lines of "BELL-ur-men."

I am totally gonna have to start taking leave (vacation) and come home to Louisville when Liberty visits for basketball and baseball. It’s only a seven hour drive.

RE: BELLARMINE
Well... there’s at least one Bellarmine fan with quite a bit of confidence. I pulled this quote off Bellarmine’s D2 Message Board.

“Most knowledgeable observers would agree that BU would probably have finished no worse than 3rd in the ASun this past season.”

I’ll put them middle of the pack for this coming season.

I appreciate the confidence but I will be skeptical until they prove otherwise. There is a huge difference in the difference between Division I and II. Sure, every now and then a DII beats a DI but to have a full season against DI caliber teams will wear out a transitioning team, especially since they have had no time to recruit for a DI team. I don't expect them to be in the top half this season. Maybe not the worst but not a threat.

I agree with your top four. Maybe replace North Alabama with North Florida but I don't have a problem with North Alabama there.

I do see Bellarmine in the bottom four, probably below NJIT who may be turning a corner after this past season. Bellarmine will have just one year of incoming recruits for their move to DI and freshmen at the A-Sun level are more projects than instant starters. They could prove me wrong but I expect them to take their lumps the first couple of years, especially if the conference is as good as we hope it to be.

So you are skeptical of Bellarmine but not UNA? Bellarmine has been consistently a top 10 team in D2. UNA went through a rough patch right before transitioning. I know UNA had a national championship in D2 but I would say Bellarmine has been more consistent.

UNA has had more time to build a DI program. By the 2020-2021 season we are talking about here, UNA will have almost an entire team of DI players with only freshman for BU. I think the transition between the two levels is harder than people expect and BU's success won't transfer immediately.

Put me down as 6th place worst case scenario
