I can't see anyone wanting to leave the AAC at this point with that fat OTA television deal they just signed for a 1 billion over the life of the contact and ABC/CBS exposure.

It would be suicide for UConn FB to bail.

Thee question I believe is more would UTEP return to the WAC or ODU return to the CAA to compete more regionally. Neither is doing much in G5 football and could use the step down in competition.

We aren't hearing much about UConn to the Big East any longer. Not worth it with the contract the American got. Their basketball fortunes are in their own hands and football has a stable home.

This didn’t age well. 03-drunk

Would JMU go FBS independent in the northeast? They wanted FBS for a while, but can't get into CUSA. I know they could get games with VTech, Virginia, Liberty, Marshall, ODU, Maryland and others in the region including Army, UConn. and UMass.

They can't. Liberty got the waiver because they proved that there was no other path to FBS and they met all the requirements except an invitation to a conference. JMU has already told the Sun Belt "no" so that argument's not going to hold water.

I also wouldn't say they can't get into CUSA; I suspect they'll be a contender for a bid if CUSA loses a school, and if ODU doesn't get the call, they'll push hard for JMU.

Six independents without Notre Dame .
Getting close to enough to make independence feasible for move up programs.
If a MVFC school like SDSU, NDSU or Youngstown St gets aggressive about moving up.
Really all three could do it and stay in their primary conference.
The risk would be reasonable scheduling easy.
Get enough teams and more playoff money Access Bowl might be possible.
Hard to argue nine schools most ranked highly in academics with football championships among their members don't belong.

More independents in football move ups could make a difference for P5 schools splitting on not playing FCS schools in the future. Gives enough inventory for SEC to schedule FBS schools instead of FCS at the end of the year.

I put Dayton on here is because they want to elevate their basketball program to be in a top conference. Since they are not going get into the Big East? They should aim to build their own football stadium or make an agreement to upgrade the one they are in to be FBS ready. They could add scholarships and aimed for the AAC.

D2 that could be there would be some Lone Star schools, Central Oklahoma, Walsh, Central Missouri, Lindenwood, Indianapolis, West Florida, West Georgia, Florida Tech and University of Charleston with their 22,000 + seat stadium.

North Florida, Fullerton State, Long Beach State and UTRGV are possible as well.
