Besides the NEC, when was the last time a D1 conference based in the East, took a D2 member. Bellarmine does not fit the profile of a NEC school, so where else would one “predict” them to go?

The title says A-Sun, so maybe there.

Winning the lotto isn't as impressive a feat when you buy 80 percent of the number combinations.

Um yeah, just saying, it’s not a prediction if it’s the only place they can go. It’s like predicting a Western D2 school going to the WAC. It’s not rocket science

So 0 schools not to the ASun. Wow, that’s some prediction! All hail DavidSt and his predictions that are the only option!

Are we really down to that number? I thought we were still in the 9,000s.

Never fear, there's still a bubbling cauldron of schools from D3, NAIA, USCAA, NJCAA, ASPCA and NAPA, as well as schools that don't have athletics yet or for that matter exist, to fill the gaps.

The Atlantic East took in UMass-Lowell in 2014.

The Atlantic East took in UMass-Lowell in 2014.

Southland took in Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word, and Big West is getting UC-San Diego.

Would any reasonable person suggest Bellarmine was a candidate to join the AEC or Southland? No. That’s the point. It’s not difficult to predict the only logical option.

I wouldn't exactly call it "logical." We're seeing more conferences than just the ASUN and WAC take on non-DI programs. Southland, NEC, AmEast, and Big West...it's not as rare as it looks. You just have some conferences who feel these guys need to "pay their dues" on someone else's time. That may eventually change, especially if someone fits their needs.

I think Bellarmine isn't long for ASun. They may have options in the near future, and I don't mean Big South.

I'm wondering who's the next school to move all of its programs to D1 with their lone program up there. My money's on Bentley.

Bentley and Southern New Hampshire are rumored to follow Merrimack up.
Summitt i s looking at Augustana because of the Indiana school wants to jump to Horizon. Western Illinois has issues.
Horizon wanted Wayne State. Bellarmine and Southern Indiana are options as well.
WCC might look at Northwest Nazarene from the GNAC. It would give WCC another school in the northwest not in the state of Washington. Seattle U. is blocked because of Gozaga.
