Question Charlotte names Chapel Hill AC Robert Woodward head baseball coach
After 27 years Loren Hibbs is leaving the program to take an AD position with his alma mater Witchita St.

RE: Charlotte in the market for a new baseball coach
So in the last 15 months Charlotte has replaced our Athletics Director, Men's Basketball coach, Football coach, Women's Tennis coach, Softball Coach, Baseball coach (beginning search) and top Women's Sports Administrator. Has any school ever rebooted their program this broadly and this quickly? Are we through? Anyone here who ever commented that Charlotte has not lived up to its potential since rejoining C-USA--and who among us hasn't--should pay attention closely. This is not coaches leaving Charlotte, this is Charlotte replacing coaches. It is a bold gamble, but certainly indicates a commitment to change at a level I do not remember seeing before.

It's refreshing after being told for years that winning wasn't the priority.

Good luck on the search. I think I’ve been on the record saying that Charlotte is an underrated job. The right guy can turn that program into a semi-consistent regional program imo.

If we could get her name off anything around the football field the exorcism would be complete

That doesn’t bother me because Judy did enough for the school,, she’s a Niner through and through. The problem was she was too complacent over the past 10-15 years and used her clout to make excuses.

And she had no clue about operating a football program, having not worked at a school with football since the mid-70's.

Wasn't the problem that the placed top priority on women's sports and neglected the top two revenue sports?

We didnt place top priority on womens sports, just just thought they should receive equal treatment. For example, baseball fundraiser for an indoor hitting facility but just wouldn't let it be built unless one was also built for softball.

Couldn't run promotions for mens basketball unless we also promoted women's basketball.

No she bumped a home opener to 4PM so volleyball could play at 7...because nobody wants to attend a mbb home.opener and EVERYONE wants to see volleyball.

To make it even worse, it was the first game for our new head coach at that time. Obviously nobody wanted to attend the first game of a new era.

She was a plague.

Yes, yes, yes and a 1,000 x 10,000 yes. If they ever make a movie about her life the title should be, “I Hate Men.”

Charlotte absolutely must pump some money into the program. Hibbs pay was just under 100k annually, we need to show a commitment to building/supporting a winner there.

Stick to soccer. Leave baseball to your parents.

RE: Charlotte in the market for a new baseball coach
We hired a Tarheel, but he kept our top assistant (Bo Robinson) and brought a former Niner on staff (Ross Steedly) so we are cautiously optimistic in general about this hire.
