FIU/Gasparilla
Marshall/New Orleans
FAU/Bahamas
UNT/1st Responder
USM/New Mexico Bowl
Finally someone with good logic. And being just down the road at SMU's 32K stadium we would sell it out too. What a shame MacLeod will probably trade it away again.

RE: Sporting News WAY TOO EARLY bowl projections - 2019 Edition
Also, some fun Bowl facts:
Only two of our bowls are Saturday matchups...New Mexico and New Orleans
Only two of our bowls are at night...New Orleans and Hawaii
The other four bowls are mid-day starts around 2pm...Bahamas, New Mexico, Gasparilla and First Responders
Overall, it’s not a very encouraging slate. Only First Responders would appeal to most Marshall fans IMHO.

It's June 1 and everybody's team "will be in the championship". But come Oct. 1 it will be
"we've got to fire our loser head coach, who is still holding us back as I've stated all along".
Summertime on the internet.

Hop has to go.. I'm not waiting until Oct. 1.
Dude has been there too long.. Time for a young exciting OC that wants to be a HC.

Sure. Conference is weaker than ever. I think we can win every conference game and championship game. That will do it most likely. Our defense should be lights out. We have a legit OC for first time under Hop. Idk if he can make Jack into a good QB but i think he can make our offense good enough to run through the conference with our good D. If we have a QB step up and not turn the ball over, i think can finish in top 25. Perhaps a little ambitious, but certainly bowl game worthy. Unless our QB play is a disaster, i think we play competitive with MSU as well.
I like the optimism. That might be much for a 6-5 team that lost to ULM and QB that has hard time throwing it over 30 yards
7 points is what separated Southern Miss from going 6-5 (sitting at home) and 9-2 and hosting the CUSA championship game. We return almost that entire team in addition to about 6 more offensive linemen signed in February (our weakness last year was running the ball). As Reggie pointed out, we actually have a competent offensive coordinator. Barring an insane number of injuries in crucial positions, I'm going to be shocked if we aren't playing in the CUSA champ. game in December.
Anybody can say that in our conference.
7 points is what separated FAU from 5-7 and 8-4 (and a division title)
Cool. I'll be rooting for FAU to have more success in and out of conference (just like I will for every CUSA school). But no, not everyone can say they return almost their entire team that missed out on a bowl game and was 7 points away from hosting the CUSA Championship. We literally replaced all the weak link position coaches that held us back in 2018: OC, OL, and S/C coach. In addition we some real good recruits in the spring that will compete/push/pass up some of the guys who couldn't get it done this past year.
Again, I'll be shocked if USM isn't playing in the CUSA champ game this fall. Here's my predictions for USM this fall:
W - vs. Alcorn State
L - @ Miss. State (although it won't shock me if we win because they'll be breaking in a new QB)
W - Troy
L - @ Alabama
W - vs. UTEP
W - vs. UNT
W - @ La Tech
W - @ Rice
W - vs. UAB
W - @ UTSA
W - vs. WKU
Toss-up - @ FAU
We'll go 9-3/10-2 and we'll be playing (hopefully hosting) in the 'ship. Jay Hopson will probably get snagged by Arkansas or South Carolina.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but FAU returned more than three quarters of the starters after the 11-3 2017 season and went 5-7 in 2018.

Yeah, I think losing Briles Jr. hurt FAU more than people expected. Hopefully the same will be true for Houston this season.

I’ll save this one.
I actually noticed today that Phil Steel ranks the UAB schedule as the easiest in the country. Very smart on the athletic director's behalf. You guys could field a team of blind players and still win six games with that schedule.

If nothing else it keeps the momentum going. You'll have a winning season during an extreme rebuilding year. It was a very smart move. Attendance will be good, and the fans will have a general sense that things are heading in the right direction.
