Good point. No school in this conference really needs anything that seats more than 30k at the most, but this is a municipal stadium that can also host other games and events. You never know, if UAB ever becomes consistently competitive, you guys may be able to average 23k or so. That wouldn't look so bad on gameday. Schedule rivals who are within 80 miles of Birmingham, even if they're Sunbelt.

UAB already averages more than 23k.

That surprises me. Are those real attendees, or "tickets sold?" If that's an accurate number, it's hard to believe the program was even shut down in the first place.
We’ve averaged more than 23k since the return. I’m honestly not sure how the announced number is totaled. However, I’m in my 30s and I’ve been going to UAB games for about as long as I can remember and I’ve been pretty impressed with our attendance over the last 2 seasons. Take that for what it’s worth.

That's good. The team is better and the nostalgia of the return hasn't worn off. Birmingham is a big city. As long as everything holds constant, you guys may be able to get to 30k.

Really cool looking designs Blazers. I wish Norfolk had the nerve to come up with something like this in collaboration with ODU pumping in half the cash and city chipping in the rest but for some reason our Metro Area is never in Sync with the whole sports thing. They'd pretty much prefer driving to Wash DC to watch God awful pro FB and Basketball. Congrats and B'Ham has a bigger appetite for sports than most people think. Hopefully renewed support for your sports continue even with Bammers on the Board.

Im pretty sure this size is also accounting for the Magic City Classic. I mean let's face it, Legion Field is going to be torn down eventually and Birmingham will need a stadium that can hold that size of crowd at least once a year.

UAB shows design plans for 45k seat stadium, gets insulted for not being able to sell out games.

It's as if the opposing fanbases will always have something negative to say when they aren't the ones receiving new things. Who would've thought.

USA getting a on campus stadium? If so, do you have a link? Wish Western and USA could get a home and home in football and basketball. I miss my trips to the gulf with games @USA and Troy.

Those days in the “Old Sun Belt” (1977-1991) were good times. UAB, UNCC, WKU, ODU, USA, USF... people forget what a strong league that was.

it's a smart collaboration between two entities that can use such a facility...Birmingham would be smart to try and lure in a soccer team to play there as well.

that stadium will be right next to the Sheraton/Westin hotels and Uptown...WAY better location for UAB than Legion Field.

No doubt. There's nothing wrong with playing rivals in the Sunbelt.

From what I understand, it's a form of birth control and also helps to prevent the spread of STDs. Definitely more effective than pulling out, but not as exciting.

Of course my team has an unair-conditioned Domed stadium named after an Air Conditioning Company.

They say A/C is coming in 2021 or 2022.

BL: Looks like a nice stadium for UAB. I hope it works well for them.
