Austin grew because of the tech industry, not because UT is there. Austin started to boom in the late 70's to 80's when IBM and Motorola settled in, then Dell, etc., and Lockheed was there at one time. UT has been there since 1881 but the city only went zonkers almost 100 years later. We were there for that outburst of growth.

It may have a major University but it's not a "college town" by my definition.

I think we all agree with you there.
