Overall, I think it's pretty good and better than I would have guessed. It looks like the ASUN is in a position of strength rather than weakness which is strange. As a Liberty fan, I only really care about the men's basketball which should get a solid bump but not nearly enough to get us to two bids which sucks. Also, not thrilled to have another Kentucky school or just an Arkansas school.

I totally get this is a home run for the conference with the whole football aspect but just a double to me as a Liberty fan. To be fair, I don't think anyone coming in will be at the bottom of the conference but that's a REALLY low bar.

That’s funny (interesting). Of the three, EKU is the one I am most excited about.

EKU has desires to move FBS. It was down to them and CCU for the sunbelt spot.

I’m happy with the things I’m seeing out of the ASUN now.

I'm not going to use the vomit emoji but I'm just not excited overall. Nobody being added moves the needle all that much to me. I can't really point to one and say "nope, definitely not" but collectively it's uninspiring.

I don't care for FCS football so who of these is going to get us to a second NCAA tournament bid? More mouths to feed makes it harder for us to make the tournament with no added benefit. To top it off, we'll now play the likes of FGCU less in order to play Central Arkansas more. Is that a trade we want to make?

We’re stuck in this mess until we can find a legit conf to take us. That’s the reality of it.
It was a landing place out of necessity. No offense to any of the other schools it just doesn’t match the trajectory we are on.

RE: Realignment/Possible Liberty Future
I’m happy with the addition of EKU and Jax St. I am satisfied with the addition of C. Arm. I like having more product and games in the ASUN. The ASUN has improved itself with these moves. There is sure another move to come to add 1-2 more schools for football. That will only make the conference stronger.

RE: Realignment/Possible Liberty Future
I know this dont directly have to do with Liberty, but maybe I can tell this and yall understand how is might.

I dont know if any of yall payed attention to D2 in the 70s-80s and early 90s? But the Gulf South Conference was THE conference back then, not just for football, but pretty much all sports. They were considered by Sports Illustrated at one point as one of the premier conferences in all of college football. They were listed with the likes of the SEC, and Big East in the article. The only non D1 conference listed.

Anyway, the GSC had a group of schools that were called the "Big 3" that consisted of UNA, JSU and troy state (now troy) huge rivals, not friendly either. Everyone knew they would be competing for conference and National championships every year. Others would slip in and compete as well, but it didn't get bigger than those 3.

We would have near sold out football, basketball and although hard to count in small baseball stadium but fans would be in lawn chairs scattered everywhere when they would get together.

My point I guess is, UNA and JSU, although, not as heated lately because of soo much time not playing regular, are huge rivals, and intrest from fans will ramp up. The schools compete with each other as far as facilities and student recruitment as well.

How does this have anything to do with Liberty? Well, yall are the standard as far as facilities and athletics recruiting. I'm not saying UNA and JSU will match, its obvious there is money disparity compared to Liberty, but that's most schools in the country. But I will say, at least UNA, gets excited about competing with Liberty, and it has shown last year in sports that we were competitive in (remember still in transition) but Softball in Florence was a fun time vs Liberty, and the womens basketball semifinals was rocking.

When UNA and JSU are doing well, the fans travel, well. They travel pretty good anyway. So, if this covid crap ever gets straight, you can expect good crowds from these two schools.

Maybe, eventually, Liberty, JSU and UNA will be the ASUNs version of the "Big 3"...

I guess that is what I'm getting at.

I also think EKU could be on that level as well. Although I dont know a lot about their history or how their fans travel.

I think they biggest thing is these three (UCA, EKU and JSU) immediately become some of the best traveling fan bases in the conference. They should be able to compete and will be a huge improvement in competition. The ASUN football will be a legit FCS conference. I’d expect a big upgrade over the BSC.

The more I look at the FCS football map the more I think Chattanooga has to be who they want first with the backup being Austin Peay. I’d prefer ETSU or TN Tech over AP but I would be fine with any of these adds.

I myself would love Chattanooga to be in, I'm sure JSU and KSU fans would as well.

My only hangups, and possibly the ASUN in general, is they have no baseball.... and we all know how important baseball is to the ASUN. It gives the conference a little extra notice nationally when we can put 2 schools in the regionals. I think the possibility of more is coming.

Chattanooga clearly is the best option. But watch the next team(s) come clear out of left field somewhere. 03-lmfao

I want schools that will build the conference up, invest in themselves, get good national recognition, and expand the footprint of the ASUN. I don't want freeloaders. If UCA, EKU, and JSU can do those things, I want them and anyone else who fits the criteria.

If only those A-10 rumors were true and Liberty can have an alignment schedule with the likes of ODU, UNCC and even UCU and UR. Would be way better than what we have now:

I think the A-10 is already too big at 14. I don't see them losing anyone soon. Their best aren't what the Big East is looking for right now. The A-10 would benefit if they could lose a couple of bad schools but it's so hard to get rid of members.

One would think it's possible financially speaking but who knows. I hope this would be the second unexpected opportunity for Flames athletics. The first opportunity was becoming FBS; the third would hopefully get a P5 (to be determine 03-wink04-wine)

Hugh Freeze wants Liberty to join a conference. Doesn't specify which one(s).
