This troll under the bridge is traveling just west of Marquette starting this Sunday to visit a former mod of this board who has sequestered himself among the ferns and pines of the UP...a lone Hemingway Hero in the quiets of his studies of Libertarian Theology, the steelhead run, and India Pale Ales.

Well look what the cat dragged in. I thought he had drowned in lake Michigan, or been mistaken for a deer by some liquored up yokel in a tree stand and shot.

Welcom back, Kotter.

That used, abused and kicked-to-the-curb styrofoam cooler has been sitting out in Norman awaiting your return. A submariner has kept a watchful eye. The light is strong in you, young Esquire - and you should now ascend the throne that is rightfully yours. Cryami is getting stronger. X has signed a 4-star. We need the RATH of Bearcat lore to rain down from the UP hinterlands. Clifton has left us. But you, sir, are Next Man In.

Anyhoo, any of you galoots are ever near the Tip of the Mitt up here in Northern Michigan, look me up. Unloaded the ducal estate and am now growing a man bun and rocking a sarong picking morels in the woods up here on the lake.

I am officially the self appointed Illustrious Potentate of the Northern Michigan/Chain of Lakes Bearcat Alumni Association....current membership of 2 (Mrs. Rath and I).

By the way....I cleared the hell out of dodge what, 15 months ago? These are the first calories expended on any type of sports/social media typing since then BTW. Its been a lovely break. The les miserables win or lose were just, well, too damned miserable to waste time getting worked up over. Sports are supposed to be fun, fellas, otherwise its like a root canal performed by that crazy bunny cooker ex girlfriend you just couldn't shake when you drank a bit too much back in the day...but I digress.

Whats in the water down there nowadays, by the way? After a quick spin around the neighborhood everyone seems to be in in full on all is fabulous In Coach We Trust mode. Seems like a lovely development even if some of the worst grumpuses now regularly resemble the happy face from the mayor from Nightmare Before Christmas....I won't yuck their yum. Keep it up.

Vaya con dios! See you on the water for happy hour.

No one can wax-poetic like this. In fact, only a few can enter the lesser "rath-esque" zone. Glad you're still around and make sure to post once in a while amigo. This coming football season could be very special indeed so the mood around here overall should trend on the uptick. Have to mention my son's high school graduation ceremony was tonight. Damn proud of him and so happy right now that the furthest thing from my mind was Mick, Brannen, Fickell, Bohn, Nippert attendance/defilement, we can't overcome Xavier/Ohio State, AAC sucks, bowl tie-ins suck, Enquirer sucks, Paul [Dik] Daugherty is the debil, et al., etc., etc., etc. But I digress...did I mention we could be heading toward a very special football season? Is it football season yet?

Rath-You will be happy to know that your favorite (and mine) Sunoco has tripled their craft beer selection. They actually installed one whole row dedicated to Craft Beer in addition to the coolers.

For the multitudes in the neighborhood, the UC Northern Michigan/Chain of Lakes Alumni Association holds its watch party tonight at the Turtle Creek Casino’s Onyx Sports Bar.

I’ll likely be the one in a black CPaw golf shirt rocking the Burger King crown Eastside brought me this summer for my impending self appointed role as Illustrious Potentate of this burgeoning organization. Membership has now tripled to 6 and counting.

Wish this was next weekend instead. I'll be up in Traverse City as UT has fall weekend and with no classes to teach we're heading up to enjoy the area before the weather starts really turning. Hope you're enjoying life up that way!

Well heck. There’s always the Houston game next week.

Weather should be nice next week

Sunny and gorgeous today with a high temp of 54....first freeze warning of the year starts tonight at 10 pm. Bit different than the weather in Cincinnati from what I’m hearing.
