They bought Turner Field. Seems they could've utilized some ingenuity to maintain the basic structure of the baseball field while also allowing for a conversion to football. A two for one of Grade A facilities in the heart of Atlanta.

Personally, I think the upcoming P5 visits to Georgia State is going to raise the profile of the athletics program and should work in your favor for recruiting, even if you lose.
Wut?

The footprint for Atlanta Fulton County Stadium is accross the street. They need $5M to build the baseball stadium there where Hank Aaron actually hit no. 715.

Serious question....how much did it cost to renovate Turner into the current football footprint? Would it have been cheaper to leave Turner as the baseball stadium (even though oversized for current needs) and then build a 25,000 seat football stadium next door in the parking lot?

It would have been the largest baseball stadium in the world. The building's outside walls are still the original footprint of Centennial Olympic Stadium. When would you ever need more than say 5k seats for college baseball. The decision was the correct one. Phase One was done beautifully. The FOC in Phase 1 b is turning out great as well. They just need to fix the east side upper deck in Phase 2. Plus a properly sized baseball park where Hank Aaron played is the RIGHT call all day long. No brainer. We still have part of the old outfield wall at Panthersville.

Phase 1 to get the football configuration was $50M to $60M
