RE: Sun Belt announce updates to Football Schedule
A Sun Belt Twitter video today said that the conference championship game will be hosted on ESPN right before it said it would be hosted on ESPN or ESPN2.

Get it together people.

Wondering if the Texas State game will get bumped up to ESPNU this coming week. Should know by Wednesday.

Since this seems to be a catchall for TV talk.

With 739K viewers, @AppState_FB
's win at South Carolina was the 6th-most watched Saturday ESPN2 game of this college football season. I'm assuming this doesn't include the 10,000 or so Mountaineer fans that were in attendance at Williams-Brice Stadium. #FootballCulture

RE: Sun Belt announce updates to Football Schedule
I'm very curious to see what the CFP Committee is going to do with App State. I feel certain they'll bring them back into the rankings, but how will they compare App State's wins over the AAC teams? App State's overall SOS isn't as tough as some of the AAC teams, but they do have some better looking wins than a couple of the AAC teams.

App State is the only G5 team with two wins over P5 teams also.

It's also going to be interesting what happens if the AAC beats each other over the next couple of weeks. If App State maintains their winning, they still have a nice shot at the NY6.

#17 Cincinnati still plays: Memphis (8-1), Temple (6-3), and South Florida (4-5)

#20 SMU still plays: Navy (7-1), Tulane (6-3)

#21 Navy still plays: Notre Dame (7-2), SMU (9-1), Houston (3-6), Army (4-6)

#18 Memphis still plays: Houston (3-6), South Florida (4-5), Cincinnati (8-1)

I expect CFB #25 at the best. Behind all 5 that are leading App in the Coaches' poll.

If App keeps winning by the time the SBCCG happens I can see them being 2nd best G5 in the CFP. Hopefully chaos ensues.

Yea, I saw this earlier here. App/USC rated a 0.41 (739k) which doesn't lool like a good number but it almost doubles the Miami/GaTech in the same time slot and channel last season. And yea Clemson, Oklahoma & Georgia were on at the same time. I'll take it.

Win out and the way the schedules fall, really good shot to hit that target. Take really nutty situation to make it to the top unfortunately.

Good news! Congrats to App State undoubtedly responsible by its ranking for getting the Sun Belt on the real big boy channel. Congrats also to Louisiana for making it a competitive match-up. This is a great opportunity to present some evidence that the Sun Belt belongs in the top tier of G5.

But it was on ESPN last year when neither team was ranked?

RE: Sun Belt announce updates to Football Schedule
It is because the Sun Belt signed a long term deal with ESPN(+) before any other conference did. The Sun Belt jumped at the chance to have the deal that includes ESPNU games and the CCG on ESPN1/2. This year there will be 15 Sun Belt conference games on ESPN/2/U. Just look across the street. CUSA will be playing their CCG on CBSSN at the same time as ours.

Markets really was a solid strategy, until it wasn't.

It might have worked if they hadn't stunk up the field with the results.

The Sun Belt's willingness to sign over everything to ESPN has actually benefited the conference way more than most optimist thought, and a landslide more than the haters thought. ESPN has flexed a half dozen games onto cable this year. Half of those weren't showing a ranked team. They were flexed because ESPN sees the southern value in the Sun Belt (viewership of college FB is bigger in the South). The ratings have proven that the Sun Belt brings in more viewers than the MAC and CUSA and even chunks of the MWC and AAC.

Markets 5, 8, 29, 31, 42, and 92 are out of the hunt for a bowl and 16 and 22 are out of the division hunt.

RE: Sun Belt announce updates to Football Schedule
Well, the MWC seems to be leaving ESPN. Boise State will probably continue their home games on ESPN but the rest of the MWC inventory is packing up and heading to FS1 and CBSSN.

Now that's 9 games in time slots for Sun Belt teams to fill. I think 5 games on Friday nights on ESPN and ESPN2 plus 4 Saturday 7:30/8pm games.

The Sun Belt being aggressive with this needs to happen. The new ESPN deal starts in August 2020. Guarantees 10 ESPN TV games. This year we had 15. If the conference could secure at least 3 of the Friday night games and 2 of the Saturday games it would improve the conference and the perception of the conference.
